The best couple doesn´t mean that they have to be two expensive famous strikers, but two that can really work together and understand each other.

Cole-Yorke is great, but the best is:

Schevchenko-Rebrov

Yupz
Shevchenko and Rebrov
The way they struck terror in the Champs
League last yr. They could have won the
Champs League... if they had a more decent
defense....

Possibly Hunt & St. John for Liverpool in the 60's.

Marco van Basten & Ruud Gullit were definitely one of the best tandems ever.
Remember the games in the late eighties/ begin nineties??? Sure you do. Ask the Milan fans or the Dutch national team supporters and they say the same.

Hello??
The best tandem of this Century was...
PELE and Anyone at the sixties!
PELE and PEPE
PELE and RIVELLINO...
and it goes...

The ideal combination would be:

Cruyff - Pele
or
Cruyff - Van Basten
and other combinations with these three.

It's only a shame they're from totally different generations.... Sigh........

Historically maybe the best was DiStefano and Puskas at Real Madrid. Both players made top 10 of the century, and in the Champions Cup final of 1960 Puskas scored 4 goals, Di Stefano 3, now match that...

For the 90s all good choices. Only one that comes to my mind that is not mentioned is George Weah and Roberto Baggio at AC Milan in 1995.

Last season?, Yorke-Cole hahaha, give me a break, definitely either the Bordeaux pair of Wiltord - Laslandes or the PSV pair of Van Nistelrooij-Nilis who between each other scored 53 goals in 34 games. This season their tally stands at 25 goals in 12 games already.

Many other tandems, such as Yorke-Cole, Owen-Fowler etc, could be unstoppable in scoring if they played in the Ukranian League probably. It's not a coincidence Dynamo wins the championship every year. Dynamo is just a good team in a fairly weak league. But Shevchenko has proven himself to be a class striker, not WORLD class striker yet though.

Just a few that spings to mind:

Dahlin-Andersson were pretty good up to -95
(until Dahlin started to think he was Jesus)

Keegan-Toshack were great, people keeps telling me. Being born in 72 makes it hard to recall any games...

Green-Nordahl-Liedholm.
"Gre-No-Li"1949-1953, AC Milan.
I think Nordahl still has the highest careergoals in Serie A, 210 goals in 257 games, not sure...

Shearer - Sheringham [ England Euro96 ]
Shearer - Ferdinand [ Newcastle ]
Ille - Claudio [Valencia, what a great team]
Dwight - Andy [ Man Utd ]

Owen and Fowler definately don't work together i can't believe how people praise them. They aren't a partnership

I agree with most of the tandem above, but I would also put Shearer and Sutton. They "forced" Blackburn Rovers to win the tittle...
And even if we are talking in tandem terms, iwould choose any forward to join old Gary Lineker, one of the best goalscorers that I had the chance to view....

What about George Best and Denis Law?!? They were amazing!
