Thanks for the replies lads, the reason that i post these profiles is to try to fill in any gaps that are missing in some of the threads along with the fact that from the terraces and grandstands most of the worlds top players are godlike when they display there incredible talents on the park, but as we all know they are human after all and are all prone to human mistakes and virtues.
.................................................. .

Like George Best .."Booze and women" ..Vinnie Jones .. a hard bastard on the park, but once away from the limelight he helps the disabled, so there is a man with a hard as nails 'killer' image on the park, but also with a kindness and compassion in him that few would ever imagine, then a few months ago David Beckham did the tv interview with Parkinson, another brilliant footballer who is constantly under fire and attack from all media quarters.
...............................................
'Becks' did himself proud during that interview and came across as a pleasant and dedicated professional family man and won the hearts and respect of a nation, then we have the Ferrel Edmundo, what else can you say about him, he is what he is and he will never change, Pele, Eusabio, Charlton, Puskas, four of footballs true sportsmen and gentlemen, who set a playing standard that is hard to beat even in todays game, i think it was Garinchia the Brazilian who played with two left boots, due to a deformity, he was brilliant too.
.............................................

Then we have some of the current young crop of players who booze away there saturday nights and end up brawling in the streets, so there we are, there is always something going on out there that will catch our interest in regard to the other side of a players life, the larger than life players who do stupid and erratic things off the park
..............................................
Some of you are wondering where i get the info from, well lads its either in the librarys 'older players'\club historys or i do a country\club\player search and then usually come up with something interesting about any given player.
...............................................

For any of you who are interested there are some every good publications that can be found in bookshops and stores across the Uk .. 'The Pictorial History of English Football' is a good one, along with many that present Club Histories , so it is pretty easy to find if you spend a bit of time seeking the required info out and it also fills in the gaps once that you find it
................................................

My main interest is finding the historical facts about the game and what happened during footballs evolution to the current day, like many years ago when players were so poor that they had to borrow a pair of old boots to go out and play a blinder of a game, and then borrow the busfare, or steal a pushbike to get back home, they played on terrible pitch conditions with the old leather balls that would almost knock you out when you headed them, but apart from that some of them made there mark as 'greats' in the game and are now in footballs Hall of Fame .. the emergence of the magnificent South American footballers who made there marks in the World game, and the exciting young player Riquelme who at the moment looks like being one of the best ever, past events like the goal that was scored in the England v West Germany 1966 World Cup final, that was awarded by the Russian linesman, 'was that a payback' for the events of a few years earlier.. the Hungary v West Germany final in Switzerland when things went wrong for the brilliant Hungarian team
............................................

"They were branded as Communists' due to being enclosed in the Soviet bloc, and things didn't work out for them in that final with a perfectly good goal being disallowed, there was bad feelings towards them by certain match officials, but as usual nothing was ever proven and it cost them the game, then when they arrived back in Hungary thay had to have a police escort back to there homes, some of the local population wanted to kill them for loosing the World final, then shortly after that Grosic the brilliant keeper of that team was accused of smuggling by some areshole and arrested and banned from ever playing again, it must have been a terrible time for all that great team
................................................

I don't really know if any of you younger forum users ever watched any old footage of that team, they changed the whole concept of football in that era and created the benchmark standard for years to come, "They squared the circle, they solved the riddle of the sphinks" is how one journo described them, then in the mid fifties the troubles started in that country and some of the players, out of fear of imprisonment and persecution by the Soviet regime bolted from there and went west to find more fame and fortune with some of the western clubs, ala Puskas and Real Madrid, but thats another story.
..................................................
Philler, you are correct in saying that i paste info in here, 'well for this excercise' i find it much easier to do it that way than typing in my own version of past events and at least this way you guys get the full versions of any profiles that pop up from time to time that arn't corrupted by my own interpretations of any event, and don't you all think that its an interesting passtime, and far more enjoyable than cursing and insulting each other as aften happens in these forums, and isn't it all about the game, our beautifull game, where would we all be without it, i enjoy every minute of it, ok then lads we seem to be onto a pleasant and interesting theme here............................................

Now would any of you lads from various parts of the world seek out any historical info that relates to your own Country or Club that will enlighten the rest of us in here, as you probably realise most of us only focus on out own Country or Clubs that we support, and i for one would more tham welcome any facts about any football history, i know for a fact that there is much info about the South American scene that we in Europe can't get to due to most of the info being presented in Spanish or Portoguese, and for the most part we only speak and read the English language, in fact we miss out on most of the World Scene, are there any African forum users who could post info in here, that is a continent that is oozing with raw football talent that many of us in the rest of the world don't get enough info about so many of us miss out on some very exciting and authentic football news both past and present, so if we are all interested in this theme, why not give it a shot and see how it all goes. i think that it would make for some very informative and welcome reading .. regards to you all ..Ned

Ps, do any of you lads know the name of the Team from the North East of England who won the first 'unofficial' Euro Cup way back in the 'i think' 30's, i think that they played around 3 or 4 games in Italy, they were an AM team from what i remember, but at the moment i can't find the info about them.
