View Full Version : Do you like your city's football team ??? Zambrotta 15-03-2000, 07:29:PM In Italy: yes, I love Napoli In Austria: no, I hate Rapid Vienna and I don't like Austria Vienna Schumacher 15-03-2000, 07:39:PM I support Dundee United, one of the nearest teams to me. I don't know of many Dundee United fans who don't live in Scotland (as opposed to old firm fans). However, when I was playing the tourist in Pisa the other year, I saw a stall outside the tower selling football merchandise, including a whole load of Dundee United stuff! HNAFC 15-03-2000, 07:46:PM I LIVED IN LONDON NEARLY ALL MY LIFE AND (chants)ARSENAL, ARSENAL, ARSENALLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! ARSENAL FC RULE!!!!!!! My nearest club is Millwall though!!! 3rd in division 2 at the moment, playing some wicked football!!!! DirkDiggler 15-03-2000, 08:16:PM Hehe my team, Falkirk Bairns, are about to be promoted to the Premier League USFutbol 16-03-2000, 05:01:AM I live in St. Paul, MN, USA. Our team is the Minnesota Thunder, which is 8 miles from my house. They are a second division team(also called A-League in the states). ranked top of the table, have sent some players to DC United, and may be a MLS team in a year or two(them or Rochester).not a bad team, but for MLS, I favor the LA Galaxy, who played an exhibition against the Thunder, winning 2-0. As for Euro leagues, i have followed the EPL for a couple of years. Woody_007 16-03-2000, 05:29:AM TORONTO!! wait ...... we have no team!!! nerdblaster 16-03-2000, 06:58:AM So many people are being fans of Manchester United, Barcelona and Inter Milan but live in Londen, Valencia and San Marino (just an example) So my question is do you like the team of your city ? PolishPower 16-03-2000, 07:25:AM I live in New York and am happy to say that I saw just about every game Metro Stars ever played(on tv of course, im not that crazy...) In addition to being the new home for Lothar Matheus, they are also known as the worst soccer team in the world(I think that will be in the next edition of Guiness book of record.) Drinky UKSN 16-03-2000, 07:24:PM Its so much more rewarding if you start watching your local club, and watch while they make their way up the leagues. I remember going to see Cheltenham play King's Lynn a few years back when they were playing Dr Martens League football and having to play every qualifying round for thge FA Cup - a world away from their likely playoff spot in Division 3. It does pay to watch your local side, as theres always the dream that you'll make it big - and Cheltenham are living that dream. Its a great feeling. Game Rod 16-03-2000, 09:56:PM Yup! Vitoria de Setubal had an excellent reputation in Europe some 25(!) years ago. Now they are almost relegated to the 2nd Division of the Portuguese Liga, but it will always be my favourite club. When I was a really tiny small kid, I had gymnastics lessons in the club, and it has been my favourite club ever since. The one and only Maniaks! 16-03-2000, 10:54:PM I'm proud to say that I was a loyal supporter of the Maryland Mania of the A-League here in the U.S. I was one of very few, in fact; so few that the team folded this year. :-( North Americans - support your local A-League team! That includes the gentleman from Toronto above...the Lynx are in your town and did fairly well last year. It's great soccer! As for the top division, I'm also proud to support the team that is only about a 40 minute drive from my house...D.C. U-NI-TED!! (Boom-Boom-ba-Boom-Boom!!) I've been playing them in FIFA 2000 in a pseudo-Champions Cup...led them to a victory over Marseille! I understand Leeds is coming here this summer for a friendly...let's shock the Premiership! a_shearer 16-03-2000, 11:46:PM The Dallas Burn can kiss my ass. I hate the MLS. simonius_13 17-03-2000, 12:41:AM I move quite a bit, and nearly always support my hometeam. Yes, I support DC United@!@ Paolo_Rossi 17-03-2000, 05:25:PM I live in Montreal, they have no professional team astolfo 17-03-2000, 05:42:PM Well, Botafogo/SP and Comercial/SP are not very good teams.. between them, I support Botafogo, butthe team I really love is Palmeiras, from São Paulo , the city where I was born. The Kid 17-03-2000, 05:58:PM Paolo_Rossi: AHH what you call the Montreal Impact a junior team? What's wrong with you!!!!! Montreal Impact is our hometeam!! Fat Bhoy Tim 17-03-2000, 07:20:PM Inverness Cally are brill. ! All Hail Cally Thistle too bad the Sheep robbed them Prashanth 18-03-2000, 03:50:AM I was born and bred in Manchester, London district BUT I am currently living in Singapore. The Singapore league's not that good.(that includes the national team=they lost 3-0 to Japan)!! :=( Manchester United is the best club in ze world.!!!! and I am darn proud to be part of it. Inter09 18-03-2000, 04:56:AM I live in Wichita, KS and our professional soccer team is an indoor soccer team called the Wichita Wings. I'm sure someone who follows NPSL has heard of them. I support them, but I don't get to go to very many of their games. They are the longest running professional soccer team in the United States(since 1978). That's something to be proud of! Goodsport 18-03-2000, 06:38:AM San Jose Earthquakes (I don't live in San Jose itself, but near it)!!! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif -G MLSman 18-03-2000, 10:34:AM Yeah I like the Vancouver 86ers (A league).
