First off,

I am 100% Greek. And I feel that Italains play the best football in the world. Their league is the best, and their NT is pretty damn good. In Greece, defensive football is pretty commen, so it's not all that new to me.


Italy, without a doubt has the best defence, which is NEEDED to become a WC champion. And they have good offensive players (Vieri etc..) Who gives a damn if they play boring, what matters is if it works or not, and it seems to be working.

Friendlies mean nothing, and should not be based on how good a team is...

i am turkish but years i was a big fan of the italian international team. i loved the italian 1990 world cup team. Scillachiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

Why is the reason to have a header if the AI will never use it.... do you know why?

Try to do this, do not play with any side, let the computer take care of both teams,like watching a TV match, and you will find out that the player never hit the ball with the heads, even less to score a header goal, like FIFA 97!!!!! jua!!!! I still can belive it!

The only time we played great attacking football ,we ended a dispointing 3rd place finish .

This proves that we go far in tournaments by playing defensive football .WC94,we reached the finals because we were succesfull defensively even though we conceived a few goals ,but we played defensively throughout the tournament and like every tournament ,we always have a good goalscorer.

Sorry Roberto ,I dont have fifa2001 ,since they i knew that they would screw up pnce again ,I decided not to buy it.

Actually this season we see more goals scored in Serie A. The Italian NT is still defensive though. I watch Serie A as much as I can. Fatih Terim (former coach of Galatasaray) from Fiorentina and Hakan Sukur are playing there! They're not as successful as I hoped so but it's fun!

Checci Gori sucks anyway.He sold Batistuta to Roma and didn't even spend the half of the money he gained for the squad! I always liked Hakan Sukur's football not because he scored many goals, but he spends all of his energy for his team and he deserves appreciation and respect...

Didnt fiorentina buy Nuno Gomes????and that Leandro guy???I think that both players are great ,but i dont know why they are doing bad defensively.

Nuno gomes and Leandro are not so expensive I suppose... Terim wanted much more from Gori. As you said, defence of Fiorentina is weak, but the weakness is not only because defenders of Fiorentina are bad it also happens because the midfield doesn't give support to the defence. Most of the goals scored againist Fiorentina were the results of midfielders losing the ball in the beginning of an attack and don't run back to help the defenders to deal with the counter attack.

They need 2 good wing players like Gattuso of Milan to run back and forth in the wing. Nuno Gomes+Leandro can't make 1 Batistuta that's a fact! I think Terim made a mistake by leaving Galatasaray for Fiorentina. Galatasaray had a much better squad. He chose Fiorentina just to have an experience in a top european league.

To D3llusion :I, as an italian love watching defensive football,probably because im used to it .But your wrong that Italy plays entirely defensive throughout the game,cause for Italy ,they start by trying to score a goals ,as soon as that is acheived then they defend .And why should Italy change tactics???For viewers like you ???We are ****en almost every game ,why should change because of you people who get bored watching them .You think the president of the italian national team cares if people find that Italy's matches are boring,what they care is for the results and so far we have been getting wins ,unlike England .

you know hearing this crap about not liking to watch the italians defencive style really pisses me off, even people who say they hate to watch the premiership and its BORING play(not implying that). if you are a true soccer fan you love to watch every kind of soccer, if you go from a team that is very offencive or very defencive, a team that likes to control the ball. it doesnt matter. i love all kinds of soccer. from the french, italians, english, germans, brazilians, netherlands, portuguese, spanish, argentinian. everything.
but what pisses me off the mosst are the people in this forum who seem to be so full of their nationality that they observe the most obvious things. the game against engalnd was a friendly, it didnt mean anything to italy, more for england and their future in there youngsters. italy definitely didnt play to full potential. neither do i think that england did. but to tell you the english team looked better than the national team, just add some more experienced players amd some young stars and they will be great. sorta like italy have done, tehy go from experienced in albertini, maldini, inzaghi, cannavaro, nesta, totti, fiore, vieri etc, and there young stars in zambrotta, gattuso, coco, montella, delvecchio, bertotto, adani etc.

oh yah and of course i love the italian game of soccer, its defencive style, with a great offencive style as well. but i also love to watch the premiership, spanish league, anything that i can watch, i love to watch, tape. i love anytype of soccer that i can watch.

yes i agree with you, i am a true soccer fan and i enjoy all the leagues either they are defensive or aggresive. i even enjoy watching 3rd division leagues and even amature leagues. you are 100% correct.

@ paolo! we re not gonna get anywhere here... i just hate the ITI way of football, diving, being a whimp etc...if i would have to give an iti footy player 3 attributes they d be 1. whimp 2. pussylike 3. boring....
