Bayern - But, we need a big change. We've got to start winning those stupid Bundesliga matches to get in top shape, injuries are hurting us too. But if we can beat Arsenal the first time I think we should do good. This coming week is tough for them too, first Arsenal then Bayer Leverkuesen in the Bundesliga. I have my fingers crossed on both of those games, the way they are playing. They played crappy against Lyons from what I've heard. We got lucky with the goal by Jens Jeremies. We've got to be on top form against Arsenal. If we lose, I think it will hurt our morale and could be over for us that early!

Well I will say one of the usual big teams will win, it all depends on consistency, and strangely this year , no team seems very consistent, there is no one way ahead of anyone else, no team that has to be feared, but I would have to say Man utd, Valencia, lazio, bayern, or real madrid should make the semi's.

If we can manage to get through the next group, then we will have jaap stam back, because our defence is the only weak link, we have the best midfield on the planet in Giggs, keane, scholes, beckham,imagine that lot coming at you, Frightening eh?

I think Man U looks strong and Real Madrid did not look too bad against Leeds.
The team that I think could go really far (but maybe not win it) is Anderlecht. I think that the power teams have been constantly underestimating Anderlecht and if teams continue to do so, could wind up losing.
Besides, Radsinski is awesome...and also Canadian like myself.

Anderlecht lost 5-1 to Man U! They have no chance!
Also, they are in the group of death that also contains : Real Madrid,Leeds and Lazio(Although Anderlecht deserve respect for beating Lazio, Arsenal did it too)

Arsenal are going thru a rough patch at the moment, but if they can make it through to the next round, I can honestly see them beating anyone on their day.

Also, do you know Spartak's style of play? It is short pass, not much crosses or long passes. But this style is best played on a good pitch, not on a moor-like one that was on Luzhniki! Meaning that it was a dissadvantage for Spartak. And there were 80,000 people on the stadium with (-10) celsius...

I just didn't like the way you described Spartak (f*cked pitch, etc)... There are reasons why Arsenal lost. And pitch is not one of them -- it was hard for Spartak too. And weather was not the problem -- Henry still was flying, maybe not he usually does, but still.. And we had 3 black players playing for whom the weater should have also been a dissadvantage (for some reason it wasn't).

Arsenal lost because you did not have Bergkamp and Vieira, because you played a lot of games when Spartak was resting for the whole week, and because over 80,000 screaming fans came to see the game and root for Spartak. Also, Arsenal had the chances, had the possetion, but could not capitalize on that (like they do lately)...


Personally, I was grim coming to this CL. And I still think that it is a challenge for Spartak to get at least 2nd place. But they are not outsiders for sure.


as for Ukrainian -- that is jealosy. I was also jeaulous and happy for DK before. But I never wanted them to loose. I never said that Spartak qualifies to the next round every year, unlike DK used to do. I am just happy for my country club, the best from my country and I don't give a **** about who hates themm who doesn't.

I'm SURE that Spartak Moscow won't qualify for the next stage.If all the matches were played in the autumn they would manage to do it.as they say,their team is "on the way" now.But the point is that only one match is left to play NOW.the rest of them will take place in spring.And in spring russian teams are in terrible form,due to lack of practice.

I was actually being sarcastic, the group is pretty certain to have Arsenal and Bayern go thru from it, while RR is going out of his way to insist that, no, Arsenal weren't irretrievably crap,(which at the mo, they r), but that somehow SM actually had the SKILL to win!!!!! SM did not play that well, Arsenal were ****e, Pitch WAS ****e, and DID affect AFC more than SM, while the crowd didn't play a part at all, because our team of world-beaters are used to that when they play for Ukraine, France, Holland, England, Rep. Of Ireland, Austria, Cameroon, Nigeria, Argentina, Sweden, Brazil, Wales, Latvia and Ivory Coast. (Well, maybe not the last two!)
Honestly, I hope to GOD that this run of bad form for AFC is just for November.

On the pitch that was in Luzhniki it was not possible... Arsenal just got tired from 4 matches in 1 week and they missed their players like Vieira and Bergkamp. That's all.

Jari -- Spartak had 3 black-skinned players on the pitch. Both teams were in equal conditions, but the crowd, Ginner, mattered.... it did (80,000 people cheering for the opponents is a lot)
