I'm sure that each and everyone of you has had an argument with other football fans about how great or how overrated a specific player is. So who seems to be overrated in your opinion ?

Personally, I find Cesc Fabregas and Wesley Sneijder totally overrated. Not arguing the fact that they are both great players, but lately, the media seems to praise them way to much...

I mean, Barcelona did just fine without Fabregas, I'm sure it wasn't a tragedy for them if the transfer wasn't finalized. And what's up with this whole "the man who should've won the FIFA Ballon d'Or", "Man United's savior" thing when it comes to Sneijder ?!

can't think of anyone in particular atm but I've never considered Pique that good. Valdes too maybe. also, most English players who get 10mil added to their real value just because they're English. (actually 20 for Carroll)

What do you mean Carrick? :D If you're talking transfer fees than yeah, sure, but otherwise, not much people are acutally rating him highly so he can't be overrated. It's like saying Massimo Taibi is overrated.

Berbatov? Are you kidding me? He is very underrated in England. He is the EPL top scorer and the media keep trashing him.

No one rates Carrick that much TBH. Can't say he's overrated. He never gets praise or attention from the media.

Both are extremely overpriced though. But not necessarily overrated. Berbatov should've cost like 12 millions.

He's overrated too he plays on the same team as Hleb, never mind that he has more assists than any other top player in Europe since 2006/2007 or his team never lost a game in which he scored he is overrated and cannot even be compared to the likes of John O'Shea who are Champions League winners.

Berbatov being criticize by the media is Sir Alex's fault, I personally don't understand why he left him off the bench in the UCL and now looks like Wellbeck is ahead of him

I explained the context in which I think they're overrated. So much talking in the media about how much they will affect Barca's and United's game, as if these 2 great clubs didn't just won the championship in their countries without these two guys. Presenting someone as a great savior when no one needs to be saved it's also called "overrated".

I don't think anyone is calling Cesc the savior of Barcelona.

of course Messi ;), he is an average player but he is lucky to play for best ever team :).


EDIT: but seriously, I think Bale, he's a good player with great talent but nowhere near world's best. he had a good match against Inter.

No one said he's "the world best" but yeah the fact that he won the EPL player of the year because he scored 7 goals and 1 assist makes him totally overrated. He had a few eye catching moments and thats it.

Oh I COMPLETELY disagree. The fact that he's still doing it at his age is great considering that he's never exactly been the fittest or most athletic of players. His run at Villarreal showed his quality. Had he been more willing to play outside of Argentina I don't think anyone would question him.

The only problem with Riquelme is that he predicated how the team would do in attack, which could get very predictable. Other than that, he's brilliant.

Riquelme is a football genius. There, I said it.

van Gaal demands that his players be one dimensional. You're going to see some fireworks this season from Robben if he can get healthy.

Here in Chile the overrated ones are Fernandez, Alexis Sanchez, Beausejour, Suazo and Pinilla, when they play for the Chile-NT, they simply suck, on the other hand, the Underrated Players like Paredes, Valdivia and Eduardo Vargas are very good players.
