AT THE OFFICIAL FIFA2001 FAQ on page 3-1, someone asked: Can "lob goals" be scored in FIFA 2001?
EA SPORTS ANSWERED WITH:
It's not really a supported feature because of the way the passing and lobbing logic works. If there's a pass receiver close to the goal then the lob will most likely go to that player. If your in on goal with no pass targets a pass will be slotted into the corner of the net with a side foot shot or lobbed over the keeper depending on what button you push. We've added more control to the shooting interface this year by allowing users to "power-up" their shots. This added control will allow you to choose direction, height and power. Of course, there's a trade off between blasting the ball and the accuracy of your shot.
I know how to solve this problem....
"Create an extra button for this feature." In stead of using the "D" for shooting, the "S" for passing, the "W" for sprint and the "A" for long ball, insert a key which makes the player scores at a nice way. For instance, when you're 1 on 1 at the keeper, the player should, in stead of the regular "D" Button, also been able to press "SHIFT + D" or something (Just another key, or a key combination). The computer calculates the chance that the player will score indeed (This varies by the skill of the player). The player will then randomly, lob or get pass the goalkeeper etc. When you're out of the box, the computer makes the player lob.
This is only fun if the chance of scoring decreases a lot when pressing this "KEY"! This brings more realism in the game, cause it happens all the time in a real match too.
I hope you send this topic to EA SPORTS, cause it would be a nice feature, doesn't it?
