Remember, if you have an idea for a question you would like to see, PM it to me, and each week one question will be selected based on the quality of the question and it's subject. I will not choose the questions on my own, but this is the best way to ensure that we don't keep discussing the same things.

This week's comes courtesy of poet11:

What are your thoughts on a European Super-League?

Past Questions:
13/9 - What will football be like in 50 years? (http://www.soccergaming.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170662)
19/9 - What are some rule changes that would improve the game? (http://www.soccergaming.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170795)

To make it clearer, here's poet11's question in its entirety:

There is talk of a break-away super league consisting the finest in Europe. I was wondering if it would be good or bad for football. I personally disagree with the idea completely but would be eager to know what people think of it.

In case any of you are unaware, there were some (very minor) talks of replacing the current league plus CL/UEFA format into a single European league format. I dunno how it's supposed to work, or why would it be a good idea, but apparently someone likes it enough to make the rounds in the media.

I'm certain that this will never happen. But anyway, thoughts?

It's just a bargaining chip for Rummenigge to get concessions for the big clubs from UEFA. Zero chance it ever happens. What big club would make that kind of jump and risk relegation? The top clubs are comfortably at the top of their leagues, but if the top 16 clubs or whatever formed a league, no one would really be safe.

I doubt it would happen, either. Top teams are comfortable hoarding money, buying talent off lesser teams and qualifying for the Champions League. It would render many leagues obselete unless the top leagues would benefit the remaining teams with money. Either way, chance of it happening is almost none in my opinion.

Terrible idea. No point.

no, few changes in UCL format would be more than enough.

Plus are the fans going to want to travel all over the continent on a weekly basis?

So it's unanimous. It's a terrible idea that would benefit no one and is extremely unlikely to happen.
