Thuram agrees to Juve switch
By Zoomsoccer, 2001-06-19

TURIN, June 19 (ZoomSoccer.com) – Juventus have clinched the signing of Parma’s Lillian Thuram in a deal worth £22 million, beating the likes of Lazio and Manchester United to the signature of the much-sought after defender.

The French international defender will officially be unveiled as a Juventus player at the end of the week, despite reports emanating from England that Premiership champions Man Utd are favourites to secure the signature of the 29-year-old.

Thuram has spend the last five years at the Ennio Tardini, picking up Uefa and Coppa Italia Cup winners medals, but the French international has stated that he wanted to join a club with ambitions to win the ultimate prize – the Champions League competition.

Recently dethroned Serie A champions Lazio made a last-ditch bid to try and persuade Thuram to made the move to Rome instead but the lure of playing alongside international colleagues David Trezeguet and Zinedine Zidane at the Delle Alpi sways the decision in Juventus’ favour.

By making the switch to the ‘bianconeri’, Thuram is expected to pocket in excess £2.2 million per year.

sadly....
this is true....

Thuram has transferred to Juve after ManUtd didn't bid for a higher price than Juve n Lazio. Blame it on Peter Kenyon...ManUtd strict financial structure....

Now now....who else can ManUtd buy...No more Thuram, no more Nedved and Veron says no...

who else in this world is availvable and deserves a place in the ManUtd squad?...

no one...except mE...the one and only *Yj*
