i can't get the game ot run smoothly and at a reasonable speed, it is ridiculously slow and choppy. can anyone help?.. unfortunately i'm not very skillful when it comes to computers.

i am using windows 98 with pentium II processor. 62 MB RAM.
the graphics renderer is S3 ViRGE-DX/GX PCI 375/385)

You said you have a S3 virge card. That is enough. You can buy a decent AGP 3D card (your system seems to have a AGP slot) for about 100 euros.

I'm having the same problem...I have a PII 300 with 64MB RAM and a Riva TNT2 Chipset (32MB) with Iceboy's drivers installed...They make it FASTER...but its still bloody slow...

Ok, to disable it, maybe get Nvmax from www.nvmax.com (http://www.nvmax.com) / www.3dfiles.com (http://www.3dfiles.com) or download a registry patch from www.geforcefaq.com (http://www.geforcefaq.com) <-happy searching.
If you have the reg. patch from geforcefaq, go to display->settings TAB->advanced->'gfx card' TAB->Additional properties->more direct3d and you can disable Vsync there. Only that option will appear when used that reg. patch. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/tongue.gif
