View Full Version : UK Commentators - Is it just me, or do they talk cr@p?
Schumacher 19-04-2000, 09:43:PM I can't stand ITV's presenters any more! After their blatant bias in the Chelsea match, and even worse the Bayern match last year (Commentator One: "Think how the Germans must be feeling..", Terry Venebales "I don't care what the Germans are feeling"). Today we had (believe it or not) Pokemon referances.
I quote - "Anelka, I choose you! An unlikely Pokemon for Real Madrid... they're their own Team Rocket tonight...". A blatant plug for ITV, or just a smug presenter? I wish the Beeb had Champions League coverage...
Woody_007 19-04-2000, 09:49:PM The UK commentator for ESPN was extremely biased yesterday v Barcelona. HE challenged EVERY call the ref made for Barca, and had the nerve to say that Figo dived when Babyaro clearly fouled him. When Rivaldo was cut in half at midfield, by Wise I think, he said that Wise "just gave him a little knock"
It is the same with all English commentators, I am glad that there is not ONE english team in the CL.
PolishPower 19-04-2000, 09:56:PM ESPN USA commentators are just as bad, almost. Thought they had a good line today:
Man U score to make it 3-1. JP says:
"Well, there is a light at the end of the tunnel!"-
Tommy Smith:
"Yes but it is only a flashlight."
Neutral 19-04-2000, 09:58:PM I agree with Woody - the ESPN comentators are retards - especially Tommy "Bulge in the old onion bag" Smith.
Schumacher, does Motty still do commentary for the Beeb? Motty rocks....
Some of the Sky Sports commentators are also incredibly biased, I think it's Martin Tyler who must call games at Old Trafford while wearing a Man U scarf....
Hunnter 20-04-2000, 01:44:AM Suggestion:> If the commentators wear you out with there ramblings, why not turn the sound off and stick a cd into your players, say some Led zeppelin or Whitesnake stuff, sort of rock on with the game, well, it is a way out isn't it.. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Neutral 20-04-2000, 01:49:AM I wish there was I way I could just get the crowd sounds...
a_shearer 20-04-2000, 02:19:AM Screw you guys. Motty rocks. ;-)
US commentators SUCK!
Saaaker = Soccer = Football
Tie = Draw
"He shoots he scores" - Who the hell says that?
PolishPower 20-04-2000, 04:20:AM "He shoots, he scores" is Marv Albert trademark when he does hockey. He also says "It's good!" and "Yes!!!" when someone scores when he does basketball games. Marv rules...
Also to me it's Tommy"He should have buried it"Smith. You will hear that anytime there is even half a chance of a goal.
Quiggy 20-04-2000, 08:51:AM Motty rox.....
Drinky UKSN 20-04-2000, 11:52:AM The BBC's Euro 96 coverage was probably the best package thats been shown over the last decade or so. Motson, Davies, Sinstadt, Champion, Gubba... Des in the studio, Alan Hansen, Gary Lineker, and Ruud 'Shhloooorpppy' Gullit. Absolutely brilliant. Someone give the Beeb £2 billion to buy back all football rights on the planet. Please...?
Schumacher 20-04-2000, 03:06:PM Neutral, Motty still comentates for the Beeb. Just imagine him doing live matches again, with Davies doing some other matches as well... Good news for Scottish viewers that Scotland aren't in Euro 2000. It means we in Scotland actually get the great English commentators for once...
