Zambrotta

I surely don't, as he has become a slow, weak forward, who does not score, makes too much money, and sucks. He stopped being a great player after his (first) injury before that CL final in 98.

View Full Version : Poll: Who thinks Del Piero is still a good player? Zambrotta 20-04-2000, 08:46:AM I surely don't, as he has become a slow, weak forward, who does not score, makes too much money, and sucks. He stopped being a great player after his (first) injury before that CL final in 98. juvegoose 20-04-2000, 02:50:PM ur a true ****wit Zambrotta........thats why u start polls like this......... p.s Del Piero rules, not as good as he was b4 the injury, but he will be there by next season Daniel 21-04-2000, 10:55:AM Zambrotta the player is so freaking crap, I hope he doesn't get into the Italian squad, that would be such a waste, but then again Italy has got such little talent at the moment anyway. Neutral 21-04-2000, 02:21:PM Let me start by saying this; when he first started playing (or lets just say before his injury) he was amazing - I didn't get to see him a lot but when I did he was one of the best players in Europe.... But, in my opinion (of what I've seen of him this year and since he's been back from the injury) - he has been pretty poor, most games I see him wandering around like a headless chicken on prozac - someone needs to sit him down and get the message through to him that he has to start playing because a man with so much talent shouldn't be playing so poorly. Just my opinion.. Sella 21-04-2000, 09:44:PM Del Piero isn't what he used to be, everyone knows that... I just have a question: Is he such a poor header, that he lifts his own corners? A STRIKER? that's pathetic...Imagine Yorke lifting his corners... Bobo the Clown 23-04-2000, 02:57:PM Del Piero is not a top striker anymore but he is still a top player and Juve would be stupid to sell him, he's a top play maker and should be played as such instead of being right at the front. Duke 23-04-2000, 05:51:PM Sella, While you are correct in noting that "heading the ball" is not part of Del Piero's game, it is wrong interpret his taking corners for Juventus as a "weakness." There are many "strikers" who take corner kicks for their team - and it is not just because they "suck" in the air. Lack of ability in the air has something to do with it, but also the control and placement of the kickers touch (that which Del Piero has in abundance.) Here are a few other examples of other strikers who "lift corners": Guillermo Barros Schelloto (Boca Juniors/Argentina) Alvero Recoba (Inter/Uruguay) Cobi Jones (LA Galaxy/USA) Now, these players are like Del Piero, unconvential strikers, most of whom would proabably be comfortable in midfield as well, but they are also great placers of the ball. Historically, (I say that sadly now,) one striker who comes to mind who should have been taking corner kicks his whole career, is the much bigger, and never criticized Ronaldo. He was horrible in the air his whole career - but alas, also lacked the touch to chip free kicks. But hey, when you dribble the ball at goal at 100mph, I guess it doesn't matter. End of rant, Duke Spud 24-04-2000, 10:19:AM NO! he's pants juvegoose 24-04-2000, 01:39:PM my thanks to bobo the clown and duke for bringing some sense into this post....... Kewell the Jewell 24-04-2000, 02:43:PM I think Del Piero is playing badly and i cant stand him BUT he does have alot alot alot alot of talent..... ChuanChuan 25-04-2000, 04:41:AM Del Piero is a player that do not live up to his name. In fact I did post a topic in other Forum to vote for "Who is the player that do not live up to his name", and some do agreed with me that he is one of them. No power, no strenght, no size.... Other player include : Bieroff, Christ Sutton,Andy Code. |
