Just read this. They report it as a fact, but I doubt it.
Read it in Italian at www.rcs.it/lagazzetta

Post your thoughts.

Here's the news from DailySoccer:

Lazio sign Rivaldo for 99 bln lire - paper
MILAN, April 20 (Reuters)(DS) - Rome team Lazio have signed
Brazilian Rivaldo from Spain's Barcelona for 99 billion lire
($48.4 million), Italy's Gazzetta dello Sport said on Thursday.
The paper said Lazio Chairman Sergio Cragnotti had sealed
the deal but had agreed not to make it public immediately.
"It is probable that Barcelona will deny it today, but by
now it's a done deal," the paper said.
It added that Lazio would be selling several players to help
finance the purchase.
($1=2045.4 Lire)

I hope not ...... I think this is the worst thing Barca has done. Even if they buy Ronaldinho. I heard VanGaal might be leaving to Lazio as well .... so I do not think Rivaldo is going to go there.

Polish,
Alen Boksic, Matias Almeyda, Dejan Stankovic and Marcelo Salas plus 50 million dollars?
No way?!?! Get out!! LOL Isn't that a Christmas song?

"On the sixth day of Christmas Lazio gave to me;
A-len Boskic.
Matias Al-meyda,
De-jan Stankovic,
Mar-celo Salas,
50 million dollars,
And a partridge in a pear tree!"

http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif Man if that's true I would think Van Gaal would be feeling guilty, "C'mon, here here, have Cocu I feel bad, come on just take him...oh, and now you're offering me Neved? No no, you're too kind..."

It won't be 50 million PLUS the players. Lazio will sell some players to earn the cash. Wheater directly to Barca or to another team depends on Barca's will to take some of these players.

However, I'd rank Boksic at 5 million bucks, Salas at 10, Almyeda at 15 and Stankovic at 5. So only a swap would be a loss Barca. Things would change if Nedved were included as you say, but I guess that won't happen. He once again was Lazio's most important offensive player, he is incredible.

Including Nedved is just my wishful thinking! He would fit very well on Barca thank you.

I heard Arsenal were interested in Salas since Suker is leaving....

[Off topic here sorry]
Zambrotta (or anyone else), do u know where I can get a video of Raul's second goal yesterday (the Redondo move)? I checked the raisport site, but I can't find any videos of the goals only pictures - but I might be missing some links because I can't read Italian. Thanks

HEhe ..... pretty funny Neutral. I still would not sell Rivaldo. Maybe because he is my fav player. And no disrespect to Salas, Almeyda, Boksic and Stankovic .... I still keep Rivaldo. I sell Bogarde, Kluivert and maybe Cocu and spring for Almeyda and Salas. But I do not sell Rivaldo. Now .... if Lazio were to include Nedved .... that might change my feeling a LITTLE .... but I think I keep him w/ Figo.

BTW ..... wasn't there a rumour that Palermo would goto Lazio?? Was that true or just a rumour?

I heard that the Claudio Lopez deal was already thru last year, so next year they could play Rivaldo-Lopez upfront. I guess they once talked about Palermo, but that issue stopped, I guess.

Raisport unluckily features only goals from matches with italian teams, sorry. They have a report in RM format on the game though, check it here

Lazio was eagerly awaiting the arrival of Marin Palermo...until he suffered a catastrophic injury!!!

That is the only reason that transfer fell through. Poor Martin might have missed his ticket to the big time.

BTW, whatever version of this Rivaldo to Lazio transfer may be true, Barca come out as Big Winners....

Just my opinion,
Duke

I got this off Sportzone:

"'Gazzetta' claim that the Rivaldo deal will involve a player exchange with out-of-favour Croatian striker Alen Boksic, Argentinian Matias Almeyda, Dejan Stankovic and Marcelo Salas touted by the paper as makeweights in the deal."

Ok, all this plus 50 million dollars? This is the best deal of the century for Barca! Even if it is only these players and no cash, that's still a good deal. If they could somehow get Pavel Nedved plus 20 million that would be an excellent deal!

Don't despair I think now is the time to sell him, while his value is high. And I think if they get so much money and players back it is a no-brainer deal, it's a steal!

It is surely not made up, as the two teams are in terms of negotiations for nearly a year now. What may not be true is that it is already done.
But there are 5 months left...rob_606 how do you know that it was false? Is your daddy Barca's president? Or are you...?

What really happens, is that Lazio is out of the Champions League. Being embarrassingly disqualified by Valencia. That's why now the Italians are trying to change the subject in order to please Lazio followers and Italian followers in general (what a disastrous campaign this year for Italy. There will not be a single Italian team participating in any of the three European finals, not even semifinals.)

HERAS
21-04-2000, 03:45:PM
To be honest, I am glad for that.
In fact, I am happier than ever because no othe country has put three teams in the semifinal.
VIVA REAL MADRID!!

Zambrotta

It's 2K man, wake up...
What the hell 3 finals are you talking about.

And this is true, this year Italian teams sucked in the cups, and that's what a load of kids like you must have waited for since this country won about 50% of all cups in the past 10 years.

And that Lazio signed Rivaldo surely has to do with all Serie A teams trying to put their focus off their disappointing european season....in your world, Norman Bates.

HERAS

1- Champions League
2- Cup Winners
3- Uefa Cup

The above three european competitions have been always around.
For the last 10 years, I wouldn't say so buddy, last year MU won the title and the year before that it was Real Madrid.

Maybe next year you guys will win something.

That was funny, little out of touch with latest football news, HERAS?

Also, how can you come here and make a statement "it was all made up?" you work for the paper, can read minds? I dont think Gazzetta would make something like this up. And if memory serves right they had the Salas rumor correct 2 years ago.

Zambrotta

THERE IS NO CUP WINNERS CUP ANY LONGER!!!! WAKE UP DUDE!

And do yourself a favour, check out the 30 winners of the last 10 years, and there will be over 10 from Italy, I actually guess it may be 15, i.e. 50%.
