From the Washington Post:
"Kevin Payne, (DC United president and GM) will meet with officials from English Premier League club Newcastle next week to finalize an exhibition between the clubs on July 22 or 23 at RFK."
I MUST FLY TO WASHINGTON DC! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

WOW......
That's an excellent idea, I hope it really happens. I hope DC can hold their own againsr Newcastle, although I tend to doubt it. I'd actually prefer to see the game played in at Newcastle, because it would have much better soccer atmosphere than RFK.

I live in DC, the match will be great!!! We'll be seeing the best of the US; Pope, Agoos; Etcheverry, etc. facing some great English stars; Shearer, Dyer, etc.
Newcastle will probably have a narrow, 1-0 win!

If NCastle go with their starters, Shearer, Ferguson, etc DC don't have a chance. If Newcastle were on the form they are now at the begining of the season I think they would easily be top5.

DC United beat Vasco da Gama two years ago and I think Cruz Azul and Toros Neza in the concacaf cup. Also Chicago Fire beat Legia Warsaw last year 3-2.
As to this game: remember in July its about 95-100 degrees F in Washington, so Newcastle could hardly play up-tempo for 90 minutes.

Becks, July 22 & 23 are a Saturday and Sunday. Great idea for a match, this. Bearing in mind the heat, etc. I would say 2-1 to Newcastle. (we never ever keep a clean sheet)
