danger zone,

I assume you're talking about the fact that this isn't available in the US? Well, you can play it on your US PSX with an NTSC television. That's how I do it just because I like playing on the PS more than on my PC.

Here's what you do:

1. Import the game - gameplay.com (http://www.gameplay.com) - they have reasonable prices and shipping to the US (and the game arrived quickly).

2. Go to Megagames.com (http://www.megagames.com) and download the "Import Player Light" and burn it on a CD.

3. Playstation not chipped? (I didn't chip mine) Get the PS-X-Change boot disc - it's a disc pressed like a playstation disc so it boots properly and then lets you bypass the country protection. If you have a chipped PSX, don't bother with this. You can find it at several locations on the web.

I boot with the PS-X-Change disc to avoid region protection. Then I insert the IP Light disc to force the game into NTSC mode. Then I insert the real game cd that I imported. It works beautifully and it even frames the image well on my TV (although I'm not sure how it would work on other sets). The only thing I'm a little concerned with is the amount of start/stop on the cd motor.
The benefit is that I can play the game, on my playstation, and I didn't have to rip anyone off to do it.

I understand you CAN patch the disc image to play in NTSC mode and burn yourself a copy, but I haven't been successful in this - megagames has more info. This whole process may sound like a bit of a pain, but it's worth it to play this game.

Of course, most of the people here seem to play on the PC, so you could just import it and do that.

I have a US Playstation and a PAL copy of ISS PE2(French). I can play the game on my PS by using a Pro Action Replay, but the game is slow and the screen image is stretched.

Is there a way to get around this? I don't like playing on my computer.

Know a place where I can buy WE5 NTSC?

Lawmill,

Are you using the PAL2NTSC codes through the Pro Action Replay or is that something else? When I tried using those codes with the PS-X-Change disc, I got bad vertical scrolling. I had to download the import player and burn it, but the screen image is perfect now.

I thought my image was stretched and slow at first, until I read in various places that the players in ISSPE2 are taller and thinner than in PE1 and the gameplay is much slower! I'm not trying to insult your intelligence, but I couldn't tell from your post if your image was a little stretched or really distorted beyond use...

The Pro Action Replay does this as a feature. I put in a US game until the screen for Gameshark codes and other stuff pops up, then I can stick in ISS2.

No. It is really messed up and pretty slow too. I've played the game with epsxe and know how it is supposed to look. On the tv, it is very slow even with the speed turned all the way up and I can't view the bottom 1/3 or so of the screen. It's very dramatic, definitely not how the game is supposed to be.

To Junior Mafia:

The point is that in REAL LIFE the scores are like 0x0, 1x0, 2x1, and the strategies, passes, etc need to be well planned to score the goals, not like in FIFAlien Soccer where if you go spinning and jumping you become a hologram and nobody can take the ball from you, then you shoot and the ball will finish in the top corner, and the games end like 7x4, 9x6...

BUT I hope Fifa gets to the right way, because if they make a game with a gameplay close to ISS, and have the nice graphics ( correcting the crowd, which is horrendous ), all those clubs, national teams, etc, I'll play it again... While it doesn't happen I will keep playing ISS, I got it some 3 months ago and I just can't stop playing it until now... :)

Cheers

Lawmill,

Well, it sounds like the conversion isn't happening (or at least not correctly) and on your tv that's the result you get. If you've got a CD burner, I would give the import player lite (described above) a try instead - it won't cost you anything and it did a great job with my system. Sounds like maybe you could even boot with a US game, use the action replay, use the import player, and then ISS. It might be a pain, but it might be worth a try as well...
