I go to college 50 minutes north of Washington DC, I slept until 11:30 and then one of the guys on my floor told me what happened. I am shocked. I live 2 hours from NYC in Connecticut, so for me, either way I am at threat. Hopefully, this will be solved without a World War.

I live in the middle of the country, but have some roots in the East.

It gives me the proud chills down my back to be an American.

Even when I read what you said, we have your support. It makes me feel great that we all united, and know this is wrong, and want to stop this.

I'm sure anyone here in NYC who participates on this great forum will appreciate all of your kind thoughts above.

It has been quite a horrific day for all of us. I live in Midtown, but was extremly concerned for my family who were on their way to school just prior to all of this. Thank God all were kept safe from harm. My heart is heavy for all of the dear souls who may have been harmed by the consequences of today's horrific nightmare.

I think America, unfortunately, may be scarred in some way. The images of the plane crashing, the doomed people waving their existance above.....(pauses)............live pictures of people jumping from buildings.....the buildings collapsing with thousands still inside.......then palestinian men, children, woman young and old celebrating in the streets. What a sick country...

I think the America and the whole world will never forget these horiffic images, I know I will never, unfortunately.

http://a.cnn.net/cnn/images/0109/top.witnesses.jpg

• In the first attack, a plane smashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in Manhattan shortly before 9 a.m., followed by another plane into the second tower about 20 minutes later. Both towers later collapsed. Sources told CNN that one of the planes was an American Airlines Boeing 767 that had been hijacked after take-off from Boston.

• About an hour later, a plane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, part of which later collapsed.

• Sources say a second plane was heading toward the Pentagon; F-16 jets were in the air monitoring it.

• The Pentagon, the White House, the State Department, the Justice Department, the Capitol, the CIA and all other government buildings in Washington evacuated.

• In the first ever national ground stop of aircraft, all flights nationwide have been stopped at their departure airports.

• All international flights were diverted to Canada.

• Israel has evacuated all its missions around the world.

• President Bush cancelled an appearance in Florida to return to Washington, calling the crashes "apparent terrorist attacks" and "a national tragedy."

• In Chicago, the Sears Tower was evacuated; United Nations in New York evacuated.

• The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta was evacuated.

• The New York Port Authority said it had closed all bridges and tunnels into the city.

• New York's Bellevue Hospital was designated command central for handling the catastrophe. Several hospitals have already reported receiving victims with burns and head injuries.

• Large plane crashed 80 miles south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but it was unknown if this crash was connected to terrorist attacks.

• U.S. stock markets were closed after the New York attacks.

damn, i remember that day...

my school is only about 10-15 mins away from pentagon... teachers didnt tell us anything, but we werent allowed to leave the building, they were telling us that "there is something in the air (no sh.it :mambo: ) and it could be poisonous" or some crap like that...

then during the last period we got that announcement, about what happened... and teachers turned on the TVs with the shocking news. everyone was like fuuuuuuck

everyone started panicking about WW III or USA being bombed more... i dunno, but i wasnt expecting anything like that to happen and i stayed calm about it.

in less than a month, it will be a year since 9-11... man, this year went so fast for me

i remember the incident . . . I was flying from Tasmania To Melbourne the next day, and i watched most of it on TV.

I stayed up to 3 am the morning before my flight, and my mum woke me up at 8 am to tell me and i had been watching it live.

in all seriousness . . . it shows there are just pure scumbuckets within our wider society and that isn't good.

Well everyone remembers this day.

It was during our holidays and I woke up in the morning and turned the TV on and it was on every channel. Lucky I did turn it on because that day I went out to the city with my mates and they had all seen it the night before.

We watched it on the big screen in Melborune at Colonial Stadium.

It was a very scarey day that was, very sad.

We've had no qualms about forgetting other things - or perhaps not even recognising them at all.

This avatar is meant to be somewhat reconciliatory (for me) towards America. I actually got it off an American. I had mixed feelings about putting it up. I believe America contributed to the September 11 attacks. I don't condone them, but certainly their actions led to the frustration felt by Al-Quaeda. I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but it's just the way I feel. If the avatar offends you, I'll take it off. It was never intended to be a joke.

what Hermlot said has some evidence to it : read the stuff i put in about the americas plan attack on Iraq read Michael Moores "Stupid White Men" which basically a book put together pre Sept 11 newpaper television news and radio that practically spelled out what was going to happen

and BTW, don't want to start an arrgumeant,
but I've noticed the first reply in this topic was:
"Palestinians celebrating in the streets... scums"

hmm... 2 weeks ago a Palestinian terrorist bomber killed 9 Israeli people,
including 5 americans in the Jeruslalem University,
and on the streets of Gazza, Palestinians made a Celebration parade
(as they always do)... hmmm... didn't heard nobody calls them scums.

I really really don't get it !!! wassup with them???
don't all people want to live in peace? and grow up their families?
this all situation must stop.

That's because Palestina is poor....and there isn't any money to educate people THAT well....and when that lacks....it's easier to manipulate people and convince them that killing yourself, and taking a Jew or two with you, will get you a place in muslim heaven...quite sad.....But, if i have to be honest with, i also feel that that Sharon guy doesn't know what the fu** he's doing... :(

The True
17-08-2002, 03:18:PM
Trust me, Sharon knows very well what he's doing.
it's Arafat who lost his mind.

Arafat is the father of all terrorists, people thinks Bin Ladden is the
biggest terrorist, well.. Arafat is his teacher !!

anyway, according to the Oslo aggreament, Arafat came back to Gazza
to rull the Pala. people and help them to get a better future.

Israel, USA, Europe and arabs countries gave Billions (!!!) of dollars
to the Palestinian authority to help them build theyr'e authority
which finally will become a state.

it's not just a matter of education, it's a matter of no-hope,
some Pala. don't have what to eat ! so from this personal status
the way to committ a suicide bombing and go to heaven
is very short.

and why Pala. people don't have money?
just this week it was published that Arafat own personal banks acounts
have 1.2 Billion dollars !!!!!

oh, and beside every weapon ship like the "karin A" costs about 200 Million dollars.
so if Arafat wasn't so bussy buying weapon to kill Israelis
or filling up his own bank account,
maybe then we could all live in peace.

Arafat must go, and the palestinian society must understand
that terror is not the way.
since they started with terror again, they got absolutly nothing
their situation only got worst !!
with peace talks, former Israeli prime minister, Ehud Barak,
offered Arafat 97% of the land + the 3% in alternative place,
and a state in 2 years time, if everything will go as planned.

I really don't see any future, unless the Palestinian people
will cahnge 160 angle their way of thinking.
and it's a bit hard when your kids watch Sesami Street,
while Palestinians kids watch "How to become a Holy Suicide Bomber"...

I SECOND THAT! The acts were horrible what happened, but the actions of the US ogvernment, and other nations for that matter are not much better. Eg, US back Isreal rather than be neutral and want peace, YOU CANNOT EXPECT TO BE SEEN AS AN IMPRATIAL MEDIATOR WHEN YOU ARE FUNDING ONE OF THE ENEMIES ARMIES! If it was up to me, I would throw in strict international peace keepers, give the Palestinians some land but with the main objective of living together in unity.
The rest of the Arab world, obviously dislike the US for this. The bad thing is, say, a government is Anti-American, then the people of that country have to suffer. Eg. Palestinians forced to spend weeks confined to their homes (without a sewage system) during Isreali incursion. Another example, people of Iraq starving and in severe poverty due to sanctions and such.
A LOT OF STUFF THAT GOES ON IS WRONG.:kader: :kader:

zul-aid
19-08-2002, 03:01:AM
i would also like to see peace keepers go in there who ever that cannot be the United Nations situated in America and only do what american says ie, weapons inspections come on people dont think they are neutral, thats just the reason america gives to its public - United Nations put sanctions against this large oil country so we as americans feel its our duty to bomb and destory while create a pipe line to the nearest american oil tanker and the rich get richer and the workers poorer........... UNs only role is create war not stop it (they have been in more involved in wars then anything else).

monkee
19-08-2002, 03:29:PM
I think Arafat is more a problem than a solution to the mid-east conflict. He's got to stop the terrorists that are coming from Palestine (I know it's not a county :D ) and not give in to them either. Nothing can be done while he's being like this, he's either too afraid or too unwilling to do anything about it to really help his people.

I don't like Sharon for his actions but the only way he'll be able to show how willing he is to give peace a chance is if his people aren't being attacked by terrorists. Terrorism is unacceptable because it only really effects innocent people.

I'm not sure about Iraq. Although I'm pretty convinced that they are developing weapons of mass destruction, it's the sort of thing Saddam Hussain would do. But the USA are being hipocritical unless they stop developing weapons of mass destruction too, as are the other nations that are doing this. I suppose I'm not against action on Iraq though. Hussain inviting in the weapons inspectors can't be taken too seriously, even if he was serious he'd have hidden all the evidence of his weapons development programs. But it's wrong to consider military development when most of your coutry live in poverty.

edit: I should add here that I would like some solid evidence first rather than just speculation about Iraq developing weapons of mass destruction before they try to do anything about it.
