View Full Version : Photoshop 6.0
::shinji:: 02-10-2001, 04:26:AM I got a photoshop question here.....what's the filter used to make those horizontal lines across an image, almost like a ripple effect (but it's not the "ripple" filter, i tried it) It's been driving me nuts because I can't seem to figure out how to do it...
thanks in advance...
The True 02-10-2001, 05:06:AM go to
Filters ->
Sketch ->
Hlaftone Pattern ->
then you'll see a window with the word: "dots"
you can choose "circle" or "lines" which is the
one you're looking for.
that's if you mean the filter that I mean like
the one in this image:
Enjoy!
BTW why use Photoshop 6.0? I don't like it,
I prefere 5.5
::shinji:: 02-10-2001, 05:28:AM That's exactly what I was looking for! Thanks a lot! :D
Why is it that you prefer 5.5 over 6.0?
I'm actually very new to Photoshop, I had always used Corel Draw, and Corel Photo-Paint, I only picked up Photoshop 6 about a week ago, and I already like it better than Corel.
Thanks again.
Dhruv 02-10-2001, 05:52:AM Can you guys help suggest any freeware version of any program like corel/photoshop,from which i could make Animated gif's???
The True 02-10-2001, 06:19:AM I'm a proffesional graphic designer for 7 years
and since day one I used Adobe Photoshop
back then it was pretty primitive for what we got today
but still Photoshop was the best then and still the best now
it's the most proffesional program for designing,
the reason I don't like version 6.0 is because
they put in more elements concerning for web design
and it's not something I need, it's just take minus of
the rest of the elements...
when you'll work with it you'll see that it's better,
and as for a beginer, try download filter packs
like EyeCandy 4.0 or something like that...
maaaan, nobody is paying my sh!&...
so why am I doing free advertise for Adobe and Shooters???;) :D
here's that effect again...
::shinji:: 02-10-2001, 06:51:AM Dhruv,
I'm not really familiar with animations, but I think that Paint Shop Pro has some type of animating feature.
The True 02-10-2001, 07:38:AM for animated giff try more
product by Macromedia (the compeny who makes FreeHand)
and not by Adobe.
Vishal 02-10-2001, 07:58:AM I love PS 6. Its cool theres no limits to what you could do with it.
K4B its called ScanLines and they are easy to make.
Vishal 02-10-2001, 08:03:AM Dhruv for Animated GIFS u should use Gif Animator Pro. I dunno who's made it but it owns. You can use Imageready which comes with Photoshop for making GIFS too.
Oh yes Ulead make GIF Animator Pro i think.
PhiLLer 02-10-2001, 08:11:AM Kill4Benfica:
There's another way to do it, the way the true explained it is only for thicker lines but if ya wanna make TV scan lines(really thin lines) you can do it another way.
I'll explain it on icq.
ShearerM4 02-10-2001, 09:48:AM great stuff here ..
some very nice art work in this thread
I only have Photoshop 4 ...
maybe I'll get myself a newer one
The True 02-10-2001, 11:34:AM Philler, with whole the respect,
don't underestimate 7 years of proffesional experience...
& don't be so smart...
with the filter that I'v told him he can do whatever with he wants
he can choose the thicknes of it there
and it's depened on the image/canvas size...
Jambo Den 02-10-2001, 12:28:PM <~~~~~hasn't got a clue but shall nod stupidly to try and look like he actually knows a bit about this

Dhruv 02-10-2001, 05:57:PM I wanted to download photoshop but at download.com,its about 30 mb so it''ll take lot of time...so i just need a simple one....
Ok
Now you have told me
1.Gif Animator Pro...
Any other??
Dhruv 02-10-2001, 06:23:PM Coffee-Cup
Any suggestions/comments?
Vishal 02-10-2001, 09:59:PM Dhruv check your pm :)
Vishal 02-10-2001, 10:04:PM BTW theres also LiveMotion a highend tool which lets you make stuff for the web and stuff.
Dhruv 03-10-2001, 05:06:AM Now i Have
Fireworks 3
Paint Shop Pro 6.02
can i get the tutorials from anywhere
coz' the help files don't seem to help in any way....
PhiLLer 03-10-2001, 05:19:AM The True:
I am not trying to be a smart ass or snything just the way you said it the thinest that you can make the scan lines is about 4 or 5 pixels(in photoshop 6 anyway....)
From Kill4Benfica's post in which he showed the photoshop image the scan lines on that image are really really small.I thought that's what he wanted.
PhiLLer 03-10-2001, 05:20:AM Ive got Dreamweaver 4
Fireworks 5
Flash 5
Photoshop 6
Illustrator 9
and some more stuff....:)
The True 03-10-2001, 07:37:AM the version of photoshop don't matters
you can choose there the thickness of line
and it depened on the canves or image size,
offcourse if the canvas size is 50/50 pixels you'll get
thick lines proportianly,
and if the canvas size is 800/800 with 125 pixels per Cm
they will be thin lines.
Dhruv 03-10-2001, 06:37:PM I don't have Adobe Phtoshop 6.0
But Paint Shop Pro 6.02
::shinji:: 03-10-2001, 06:52:PM How about if I start a thread where we can all post some of our graphics work (banners, etc...)?
I'm going to get some of my stuff together and attach some of the things I've been working on, and I'd love to get some honest feedback from you guys.
PhiLLer sent me some of his work through ICQ and it's exellent, I can also see that The True does good stuff too so I'd love to see some more. :)
PhiLLer 03-10-2001, 11:29:PM The True:
I know what you mean but say you want to make a 100x100 image but you want really really thin lines, then they way you explained it is not possible is it?
That's what I meant
The True 03-10-2001, 11:47:PM what you want me to say? the you are right?
even if you don't?
if the canvas is small, you use the scale tool to make the lines
smaller/thinner.
there's nothing you can't do with Photoshop default filters,
it's just a matter of experience to know how to do it...
PhiLLer 04-10-2001, 04:08:AM Spose:)
sorry if I pissed ya off or anything, wasnt trying to be smart:)
