Which national team will be, who's not already, a powerhouse in world soccer? There are many teams right now who are showing great potential, but who in 10 yrs. will most likely end up in the final 4 of a WC Finals?

Damn, this is a good and tough poll, in a way i'd say that several of those teams you put in your poll will all get a status in football in a 10-20 years, like the statuses teams like Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, England, Holland and Portugal have today who knows......i'm not gonna vote in it, cause no mather what i vote for, another choice could be better:

USA: Not the best team in the world, but have the ability to make "surprises" (like the 3-0 over Germany a few years ago), and a league with an ok standard, that will probably evolve over the years

Poland: Well, what can u say......hehe.....i don't know much about the polish league, but their national team has played good in the WCQual's......but, then again....they were'nt exactly in the hardest group, so we'll have to wait and see.....

Ireland: All i can say about this team, is that if they develop more players like Roy Keane in several positions, then it looks very promising the next few years...

etc etc etc...

ok this a tough one, so ....
it need a lot of concentration and reflexion.
that's why I'd like to say Ireland coz I like their style, but with these kind of teams (like Scotland, Wales ...) they have a good generation, but never manage to follow up.
So the next new force will surely come either, from Africa, or Asia.
Most likely Asia, coz the African are too volatile

its a good post and i relize you couldnt add all the teams thats could become super powers NIGERIA could be one if they get there act together and EGYPT they have almost made it to evry world cup (they have been to two) its just there bad luck such as this year if youve visited espn they also need to get there act together same thing for CAMEROON they just need to get better

HUNDORUS for sure there a great team they have a set spot in this world cup and they have strong offense USA i cant really see as a soccer superpower soccer isnt as popular in the usa as in other countrys thus not alott of talet shineing same for POLAND

PORTUGAL i dont think is a super power yet so i think they are definatly goin to be surecondenders in future cups
but ya never no in soccer who would have thought in 1998 that
brazil going to the 2002 finals would be a joke rather then a gurantee as in past cups

MEXICO has a great generation of players than finally are playing in europe

why Mexico?:

- Second place cup america(with a tottaly new squad of players and manager than never played together)

-J. Borguetti most goals in a year in the world(2000-2001)

- Marquez best defence in Europe 1999-2000(Mónaco)

- Cause in mexico football its a religion

- A lot of achivements in a short time

-Cruz Azul SC in the copa libertadores, just the 3rd that mexican teams played( its like CL but in america)

- And much more...(the list goes and goes)

Australia i hate to say. The sports academy they've got have already produced world and olympic champions in other sports and it won't be too long before their football benefits. All they need is to qualify for the world cup (of which they should be already thru but FIFA somehow don't recognise oceania. Why can't they give 1 automatic place for oceania and a play off place for the second best team)

Japan have the resources to produce a team that can give a good showing at world cups. Whether they can do well at the 2002 world cup remains to be seen, and a lot depends on who they get in their group.

Mexico have a tradition of producing stylish players, and have done well in past world cups, especially on home soil. I think that they are capable of reaching the quarters.

They are several African countrieswho can establish themselves, and have the players who have european experience. Cameroon and Nigeria are not too disimilar to Brazil, and that includes defence. I think their defensive frailities will be their undoing. the only country in Africa that can establish themselves is South Africa, who have the resources to produce players, and the game is atracting more white people than it did in the past. However will the people that have the money be prepared to spend it? Will the governmet fund sprots development or will other priorities receive attention and sports neglegted? Only time will tell.

The european countries that will emerged or will be the ones that have their best players playing in the top european leagues. I think that the countries with the best european leagues will ahve fewer, but more talented players to chose from, but will face compettion from countries that have a majority of their best players playing abroad and have a reserve of decent players from their own leagues such as France.

Can't stop the rush...

I think France are gonna stay top from what I saw in the U-17Championships.

Their strikers Pongolle and Le Tallec looked unstoppable.

All these teams have great potential, if they didn't, we wouldn't be talking about them.
In my opinion, USA has great potential, and I'm not just saying that 'cause I'm American;) . But really, we have such talented youth players and those who play in MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER. I've seen almost every league in the world, which all have great talent, but MLS has a farm system which keeps pumping out great young new talented players who, with more experience, can become possibly the greatest players in their time.

Watch out for players such as Landon Donovan, Clint Mathis, Santino Quaranta, Tim Howard, Adin Brown, etc. (Those were just to name a few)

Can I say Hong Kong?
Oh! Sorry, Hong Kong football sucks!! (Although I'm a HK citizen)

Ok, I think Japan or Ireland may become stronger and stronger, also, we should not ignore Australia and Cameroon, as they have many good and promising players (Mark Bosnich is not included), so I think they may replace some countries for the title of football powers.......
