im sure this is a bug....i started in div 3 worked up 2 prem league and i won it....i made offers for players like totti,gerrard,owen and saviola....the clubs accept and i make the offer 2 the player....now for totti i had 2 go into auction and i made a higher offer then juve and i offerd him 80000 p/w plus 2,000,000 signing fee....he declines and moves 2 juve who were relegated 4 sum unknown reason...he accepts a 43253 p/w offer and no sign on fee from juve....i mean my club is like super and he declines....i offer s.gerard who had a morale of 21 a 72000 plus 2,222,222 sign on fee and he declines....he was playing 4 arsenal who were 17th in the league at the end of the season and i had come first.....i could go on.....the main stars i can buy are only on bosman cos my chairman wont veto watever i offer....and say if totti agreed 2 my offer my chairman comes up with a msg saying u offer 2 much the health of the club must stay strong bla bla bla....and he moves 2 juve.....why does this game do this....my team is really good and i cant buy top players cos if i offer them a VERY NICE contract they say no and if its 2 NICE then the ****ed chairman says no sorry....i swear this game is getting 2 become a hunk of junk....in faplm 2000 u could buy ne1 no matter wat league or div u were in......i think this is a bug...if anybody knows of a way 2 overcome this bug and offer players contracts and they'll accept,please let me know.....

After you have finished a season, and it does the season update at the end of the season, it always falls back to the desktop!!! is there anyway of fixing this bug as it really pisses me off, especially when u r quite fair in the game!!!

I don't know... I find this quite realistic. I mean take new rising clubs like Galatasaray:
although they are a constant presence in the higher phases of the Champions' League, and manage important wins against the giant European clubs ( Milan- last season and 2 years ago; Lazio- 3 or 4 weeks ago; Real Madrid- twice last season, in the UEFA Supercup & Champions League quarter-finals; Arsenal- UEFA Cup final 2000), Galatasaray not only aren't they a club which would attract big names, but even more, they sell their top players (H. Sukur, Emre, Okan, Umit D., Popescu,...).
Also, the Greek clubs can only buy decent players like Paulo Sousa (Panathinaikos) or Giovanni (Olimpiakos), not stars.
So, what I want to say is that wins or bucks aren't enough to turn a club into a Superstar-Magnet.

In this game, and the last one teams like Man U, Juve, Lazio etc even if they are religated will still be able to attract all the big names.

I hate it when the chairman reject my contracting players ...I saved and tried to resign one of my players...the players was fine with 1800 a week, but the chairman wasn't...then I tried 1700 a week, the chairman was fine but the player wasn't!

It ended up I had to sell the player before Bosman rule..I got a penny for him but lost a good player...all for a 100 a week!
And I have 50 mil in the account!!!!!

im finding that when i offer a player a contract and the starting amount p/w 2 offer that player is over 25,000 i cant get that player.i have bought players by changing their 19,000 or 21,000 a week contract to 61000 p/w....all the others wont come

like on the transfer list at the moment is ronaldinho and nakata....both star players but will they come 2 my team???

i dont understand this....my team is a big team we won the uefa cup in div 2 and 1 and prem league and now were in champs league.....i swear this is a bug.....when i was in div 1 coming first, a player wouldnt even join me from barnsley and they were in
div 1

i dont think the players take into account ure club and how good its going when deciding on the contract.....quite unfair

I think you guys have gotta remember that just because you're Manchester United you can't always buy anyone you want easily! (in the game AND in the real world!)

The rules for approaching players are simple -

- When the 'approach player' window pops up you can't offer any more than 3 times the weekly wage or 6 times the sign on fee i.e. if it comes up with $3000 weekly wage you can't offer $9001 or the Chairman will block it - if it comes up with $1000 sign on fee you can't offer $6001 (the weekly wage includes the Game Bonus)

- You will also have trouble signing player for more than 5 seasons - often the popup will automatically come up with 7 or 8 years which will normally be declined - make sure you change it for all players

- Don't bother with the house, car etc it doesn't seem to make any difference

- The League you're in will generally dictate how easy it is to get a player to accept - if his rating is higher than the figures below you'll have problems -

Conference - 60
Third Division - 65
Second Division - 70
First Division - 75
Premier League - 80

- If you approach multiple players all at once - some will always decline - but you will normally get at least 1

- Sometime you can get a bid on a player, but the players team won't actually let him go (i.e. too few players etc)

- Don't offer players (or teams when bidding) too much - the game has been coded to treat all massive bids negatively

The solution to this problem is also simple -

When you get your bid on that STAR you want, get 3 or 4 bids on nobodies (from the transfer list if necessary & save the game!) - approach the 3 or 4 nobodies offering a wage that they will always decline (e.g. half the wage) and then approach your star with the default amounts - this won't work every time, you'll have to keep reloading and retrying - I think the programme has been coded to take pity on you if you have a list of declined bids

And remember, this programme has been coded to annoy the hell out of you, if one of you're players refuses a re-contract, keep trying - eventually the little s**t will say yes!

that what you found was not a bug! If you check every teams active fans you will see that teams like real madrit and manchester utd have 85000. These teams can buy all players (e.x. if he wants 40000 and you give him 41000 the player will accept your offer) All the other teams can not buy players which their average ability is very high.If you have any question at all e-mail me!

This is a bug exist in FM2001, it hasn't been fixed yet, while i had to say stop using conf. team or you have to stay long, wait for those star players to reborn. At that time they will be willing to join any club.
