View Full Version : Looks like No World Cup 2002 anyway!
I@n S 15-10-2001, 04:06:AM On the news yesterday it said the insurance company that's covering the 2002 World cup has pulled out because they won't be able to afford the cost of the damages if Terrorits attack the World Cup. So now the plan from what i've heard, is to find an insurace company that's willing to cover it. I think just the thought of attacks has put the World Cup in Doubt!
So does this mean no world cup?
:( :( :( Damn it!
I saw it on TV on Friday evening, but i was to knackered to take any of it in.
I bet someone else will insure it though.
PhiLLer 15-10-2001, 04:56:AM They better insure the bloody World Cup, I want a World Cup:)
Actually, lets not have the world cup there.....................and have it in England :D
::shinji:: 15-10-2001, 05:24:AM Nah, wouldn't you rather have it in sunny Portugal? :D
Nahm, here i will be able to go and see the games :D
Hey, You already have euro 2004, now be satisfied!:D
I rechon, that their should be a British World Cup, instead of a English World Cup. That would be great :D
IceBlu 15-10-2001, 05:55:AM The WC will go on...
I@n S 15-10-2001, 06:00:AM What if the terrorits attack the UK? I'd be worryed then!
The only place that would get attacked would be London. But it won't.
The Crippler 15-10-2001, 06:10:AM They could attack Manchester or Birmingham (or Sellafield) or somewhere where they are not expecting it!
If the WC does take place the likely thing that will happen will be a huge military security!
Why attack Birmingham, or Manchester when you can attack London, with a far larger population than them both put together. Sellafield is a very good point. That could completly **** up the country......

They probably wouldn't have the ability to cause something major in London cause of the security so they go for another city. Sellafield would **** up the hole of Europe if hit. It is just 30miles from Dublin which is where I live so I would be ****ed!
But no-one thought they would be able to do it to NY, or DC, but they did......
Alenitchev 15-10-2001, 10:48:AM Terrorism strikes when you least expect it, and where you least expect it... :(
Mauricio 15-10-2001, 12:19:PM How about an other cup in Mexico:D ;)
Duster 15-10-2001, 06:10:PM Yeah! good thinking Mauricio:cool:
Gareth 15-10-2001, 11:24:PM AXA may have pulled out of insuring the World Cup, but Fifa have said that there are more than 5 others lining up to take their place. So theres no chance of it being called off.
By the way the Korean and Japanese Govt. have said NO FLY ZONES over all WC stadiums.
How are they going to enforce a no-flyzone if a hijaker takes over the plane?
mikasalo32 16-10-2001, 04:52:AM shoot em down
Lol, AA guns on the stadium roofs :p
I@n S 18-10-2001, 01:47:AM Shoot them down and put up huge nets to catch the planes when they fly into the grounds :D Would have to be damn big nets too.
