Barca refuse to play cup game
Barcelona conceded their Spanish Cup semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid at the Nou Camp. The club had threatened to withdraw from the game after losing eight players on international duty and simply turned up to shake hands with the referee and walk off the pitch. They face a £10,000 fine or a competition ban.

LMAO. Very funny indeed. Actually saw some visuals on this courtesy of SKY

What a loosers!! Barcelona should have known that this can happen when you fill your team with internationals from all over the world. I hope they get banned from the spanish cup for the next 10 years and get a 20 points deduction!!

I wonder what they would have done if they had won the first leg with 5-0, i dont think they would have boycotted the game then.

Well, considering the fact that Barcelona lost the first game 3-0 (at home) it didn't really have a chance anyway. Even though it's the weak Athletico Madrid, considering Barcelona's current form...

I, for one, think the Spanish Football Association should've let'm go. I mean, if Barca had sent 10 representatives to Spain's national team, it would have been let off. So what's the fuss?

Sella, you are completly missing the point:

First of all Barcelona lost in Madrid, secondly the internationals arent spanish but from other countries, Spain isnt playing a friendly this week.

If you wanna compete on all fronts you just have to make sure you have enough players to do it with!

I wondered how they filled all that free time for the tv broadcast! Barca should have played their reserve team my opinion, even if they knew they could not win they should not just forfeit a game.

It was Spanish fed at fault too because the refused to post-pone the game, so I think it had a lot to do with the fact that Barca felt insulted, by doing this they were saying you not gonna force us to do anything!!!

Looks like the finale is going to be a 100% Madrileños affaire!
Go Madrid! Go Madrid!

No, I am not missing the point. I'll say it again: Barca sent a number of players to FOREIGN nations' games. To this, Spain's FA said no...

And I ask (again): had Barca's players gone all to a Spanish game, would they have been let go free? I think so. And rightfully. So what's the fuss? Couldn't they postpone the game a week? And I still think Barca had little chance of winning 4+ to nil, even at home...

It was bloody disgraceful and disrespectful. Nunez and that stupid b*****d VanGaal should be fired. What idiots. Arrogant bloody idiots. They even lied about a so called apology to the King of Spain. Not only did it give Barcelona a black eye, they used the players in such a humiliating fashion. They should be fired and killed.

Hey Sella .... Barca beat Chelsea 5-1 ..... you think they would not have netted 5 more on relegation threatened Athletico?? It is possible. But that is beside the point, if VanGaal was more of a man, he would played the game on Monday because the players would have still made the 48 hour rule by FIFA. And even if they did not, I do not think FIFA would have punished Barca. Still .... stupid stupid planning.

Now also keep in mind, the Fifa directors wants a worldcup every two years. What will happen then for clubs like Barcelona?
-->Spanish competition plus Spanish Cup plus Champions League plus Worldcup plus (maybe) European Cup (Euro 2004?) TRY TO PUT THAT IN ONE SCHEDULE!!
