View Full Version : Free Kicks... just a tip

I've noticed a lot of references to free kicks and specifically how to score from them. This was something that annoyed me until I spent half an hour on practise just doing edge of the area free kicks yesterday.

What I realised was that if you press the shoot button, you're unlikely to clear the wall and get the ball in the goal. So, I thought of David Beckham - he chips the ball and just curls it into the net.

Using this idea, I tried using the chip button and it was surprisingly successful - I scored almost every time by aiming slightly inside the post, holding the up arrow (this is vital, as it keeps the chip low rather than flying over the bar) and filling the power meter just a small amount. The ball floats over the wall and into the corner.. but only if you get it just right, as in real football. When shooting from a few yards outside the box this worked almost every time. Further out, it is difficult but still possible.

And another thing, when you do practise do it with the vertical camera angle - you can see where the ball's going, and if you are swerving it see how much and what you need to do to score.

So, if you want to score freekicks the first thing is to practise them in the practice mode - and give the chip button a go, it really does work.

from anywhere along the edge of the box, the low chip is perfect because it just goes under the bar if you can do it correctly.
i've been using this for months now and it is a very reliable way of scoring if you do it correctly.
simply push up and bring the powerbar about 15-20% up and then watch the ball fly into the top corner.

I found it so easy to get free kicks on target(took me months).

It depends on where you are on the pitch, and if the player is right footed or left footed.

if its from Beckhams normal range, all you have to do is power up the shot bar 3/4 of the way up and you will get it over the wall.

I do this all the time and I/7 times I normally score.

Yeah that Toldo is something else...played a rainy game against him and even with the rain he was unstoppable (until the 90+ min).
