View Full Version : Marko Viduka. What do you think?
Living in Australia, I hear lots of supporters here rave on about Viduka.
Being a Celtic supporter I reckon he's a twat.
I first saw him in action when Australia threw away a two goal lead to draw the World Cup qualifier with Iran, ending their World Cup ambitions. He missed three chances (this may be an exaggeration) in the first 5 minutes of that game. Basically what I'm saying is I've never rated him as a player and I'll be gald to see him leave Celts ASAP.
At the moment I think he is still the top scorer in Scotland but has only managed one goal against Rangers, and let's face it, that's where it counts. He has not earned his salary at Celtic.
Anyone with an opinion is welcome to comment.
Eleftherios 27-04-2000, 06:48:AM Your comments are ridiculous! Viduka has 27 goals in one season, he is top scorer, he has scored against Rangers only once and he is obviously hopeless? Your a twit!!!
He has waltzed into your mickey mouse league and showed you all up.
I can't wait till he goes, to a club with good service, from a hard working midfield rather than the crap midfiel that is better suited to, combing their hair in the dressing room and then prancing around while **** house players run past them!!!!!!
Kewell the Jewell 27-04-2000, 01:12:PM I agree....what the hell are you talking bout with your rubbish about Viduka not earning his wage......TOP SCORER IN SCOTLAND AND NOT EARNING HIS WAGE......
just bout his first season in scotland and is the leading scorer......
and in regards to tat fateful aust-iran game maybe you are talking bout Aurelio Vidmar about the person who missed all those chances at the start of the game.
I for one, would pleased if he arrived at Leeds..
Schumacher 27-04-2000, 09:10:PM Viduka is a BRILLIANT player! I thought he was a waste of cash for Celtic, but I was wrong. Go Mark!
Guess I'm just bitter and twisted, ok I think the main greivence I have with him is his lack of committment (I really believe he never has been) and the fact he never has turned it on against Rangers. My opinion.
Eleftherios I wouldn't go bagging anyones league if I was you, we all do the best we can.
Kewell the Jewell, I stand corrected.

Fat Bhoy Tim 28-04-2000, 01:38:PM At first i thought he was a twat.Walked out before the ink on his contract was dry,but since the end of last season he's proved himself to be brilliant.Since Celtic want to catch Rangers and are going to lengths to get Hiddink,Viduka should also be a top priority.Keep him if at all possible !
celtic fc 28-04-2000, 08:22:PM Mark, I felt the same way you feel at the end of last season, but he has been great this season, he has scored 27 goals.
chau le 29-04-2000, 03:15:AM Mark Viduka is one of my favourite players!
I have been following his progress since he was a 17 year old playing in our local league in Melbourne. A friend of mine's played against him and said that he was incredibly strong and skillful even when he was a teenager playing with adults in the State League. His nickname was the "Big V Bomber"!
I certainly rate him very highly, especially when his mind is switched on!!!
Kewell the Jewell 29-04-2000, 06:18:AM Chau Le
remember when he and Spiteri were up front for Melb Knights??
V-Bomber and Spitfire!
chau le 29-04-2000, 06:38:AM Yeah, he was sure fiery, Joe Spiteri. I think he is playing in Europe somewhere (could have been Austria).
celtic fc 02-05-2000, 12:36:AM Well, he was just awarded SPL Players, player of the year.
Funny how in talking to friends back in Scotland I get a completely different reaction to the question I posted here.
Some of the words used in reference to him are: CHANCER, LAZY, DEVIOUS and then they get downright offensive.
The reaction to the SPL Player of the Year is that it's a joke. Sorry guys there are far more deserving players out there than Viduka.
His committment is in question again. If he stays (which is highly unlikely) he wants to miss a month of next season so he can represent Australia as an over age player at the Olympics.
What planet is this guy on? Who pays his wages? Who foots the bill if he goes off and gets injured? Does he think that if he gets the transfer he so obviously wants, his new club will allow him to do this?
Bye bye Marko!
celtic fc 02-05-2000, 06:53:AM I must agree Mark, though Viduka is a good player there are better players in the SPL than him.
It's amazing how many fruit loops we've had playing in the Hoops in recent years. There was Cadete, DiCanio and now Viduka, all good players just one sandwich short of a picnic.
Fat Bhoy Tim 02-05-2000, 01:37:PM Cadete,Di Canio and Viduka are all class but not the best
---Cadete-------------Van Hooijdonk
-----------Di Canio---------
that was THE line up and with Henke and Viduka here we should get Di Canio back
Kewell the Jewell 02-05-2000, 02:16:PM mark are you seriously trying to say to me that it is wrong for Viduka to want to play for his country in the Olympics in Australia!?!?!?!?
yes the club plays his wages but country coems before club and that applies for all players!
Of course I'm not saying it's wrong for him to want to play for Australia, Although I must say the Olympics is maybe not such a great idea, after all, originally only amatuers could compete and why not give an Australian based player the chance. All I meant by my comment was that, even before he has decided his future, he's implying he won't be available for a month at the beginning of next season. That won't do him any favours if he really wants to make his move.
Incidently, what do you think of your namesake's unavailability for Australian matches?
