I know, this Mediaplayer does work under Windows 2000, but I have Windows'98 SE.
It gives the following message:
Not found the correct decompression-program

Anyone who knows about another player which does run the movies?

A couple things, you should tell us what vids you are trying to watch..i.e where you got them. But there are two major codecs that came out that you probably don't have. Get the first one from here (http://www.morgan-multimedia.com/) and the second one from here (http://www.divx.com/features.php) . Then use WMP to open the files again and like magic it will work.
