View Full Version : HEY EA FIFA 2000 BLOWS, DON'T SCREW US NEXT YEAR!
FIFAfreak 06-12-1999, 10:46:AM I know there are plenty of people out there who are disappointed with FIFA 2K. Maybe we should wait next year until we know it's worth buying. If you can rent it first (PSX) then do that because all EA IS CONCERNED ABOUT IS MAKING HUGE 4TH QUARTER PROFITS (hence the pre-Thanksgiving/X-mas release date).
After 99 I thought EA was going to finally get it somewhat right with 2K. What a disaster. Right from the crappy intro and music to the crappy gameplay. Sure they made some nice improvements but they just scratched the surface. For the one step forward they took with the improved graphics (players, kits, realistic movement etc.), shielding and continuous season play etc...they took several more steps BACKWARDS for the rediculous gameplay (baseball scores!), pathetic music & commentary (U.S version), lack of multiple players in season mode, lack of MLS season mode, poor choice of leagues and teams, lack of research regarding rosters and player abilities, inability to save the camera settings and on and on... This version is flawed because they f**ked up and rushed it to the market. If you took the few good things they did in 2K and put them back in the 99 version then you would have a much better game. It had the right feel and they killed it instead of building on it (like they did from World Cup 98) EA YOU ARE A BUNCH OF DUMBA**ES!
AWASINAM 06-12-1999, 01:02:PM i found the game asy at first. i have it on pc and it looks great.to make the game more realistic, me and my brother ,we changed the players stats to what we thought was realistic. some teams stats were so rediculous. we changed the stats from england and italy to update it. after changing everything we had to make sure manu was the best clubside in the world. if u do this then u will find the game more of a challenge and no more baseball scores. look at totals points for each player and make the good players higher in poins than others in your opinion. what we did was looked for a few players who r best in certain positions. basically we located the players we knew something about and change there stats if they needed changing. the easist way to change stats is to just compare player with player. i hope u will try this. it will take a bit of time but it will be worth it whilst u wait for Fifa2001.we played the game and u could passthe ball in defence without aproblem like in fifa99. the game is much less hectic when both teams r on full defence and more enjoyable. u have much more time on the ball.i think its a good idea from EA to give u option of changing stats without limit. different people have different opinions on which players r good and which are not so good. so they can change the stats according to what they think. its less arcade than fifa99 and more realistic-maybe thats why u dont like it. sound was better on fifa99 but i think too much names were said and it spoiled the gameplay.
PolishPower 07-12-1999, 05:00:AM Too much names were said? Excuse me but I think the majority of the people thought that the fact that these names were said was the best part of the commentary!
Also why do we have to do this crappy editing of players and changing attack bars to 50 percet or 100 percent etc. to make more realistic game, why wasn't it done at the EA before they released the game? You think most of us have time to do research on what a certain player should be rated? This is what I expect EA to do, after all, I did shell out 40 dollars for this game. And now you want me to go do research and all the crap to make this game realistic?
And yes FIFA 99 did have flaws, but as far as realistic scores, and league records, it is far better than 2000.
Right on Polish!
With FIFa99 was the same deal, to make FIFA99 enjoyable I had to redo all the damn rosters for my league and make individual kits for each team.In the and Ive spent more time tweaking FIFA99 then playing.
And as long as people like AWASINAM have time to edit and think its ok to buy a half finished product for a full price EA will never stop doing that.
I would not even mind doing the kits/rosters if at least they nailed the game play right.
Since they are so lazy and greedy they should at list be a bit smarter and keep the FIFA files compatible or release some sort of exporter/importer that would allow you to import FIFA99/WC kits/rosters to FIFA2000.
FIFAfreak 07-12-1999, 05:28:AM Exactly right Polish Power. I like tinkering with the game (correcting kits!) but getting into all those numbers is a bit excessive. Especially when you're limited by the playstation memory cards. Getting the numbers and realism right is their job and they did a piss poor job this time out. 99! Go Back to 99!
AJAX supporter 07-12-1999, 07:56:AM I don't want to edit for half and hour or an hour before I can get started. And the commentary should have been better, 60,000 words by Mr Motson would have been an improvement on the 50,000 words said in FIFA 99, but instead it's less.
I used to love how John Motson could say every players name in almost the whole Bayern Munich squad in FIFA 99, not in FIFA 2000, which is disappointing I guess.
Make the commentary better in FIFA 2001!!!
Game Rod 08-12-1999, 12:28:AM The problem is that they just don't care much about improving the game. They know that if we're not happy with the game this year, we'll be probably buying it by this time next year.
Besides, this thing of selling the same game, year after year, doesn't work so well. If they used more time, the quality improvement would be much better. Editing a game is not that simple. What can they do in just one year?
Should have done better, that's what we know...
S.O.S. 08-12-1999, 01:19:AM I think it's about time EA released a SDK for the FIFA soccer series to make it fully customisable to the user's liking. Give the user the chance to make the 'perfect' football simulation.
Game Rod 08-12-1999, 03:58:AM That would be just great. But then how would they sell more FIFA Series each year? They wouldn't be interested in anything that could prevent that.
I mean, they can always get more and better graphics and playability, but that takes more time.
PolishPower 08-12-1999, 06:09:AM They have to make a new FIFA each year to include the current teams and rosters, they do this for every title in their inventory.
