I've finally sussed curling the ball from free kicks and corners. Now could anyone tell me how to do it in game? I've heard of pressing x, or just holding direction after kicking.. and I can't get either to work. My controls are setup differently to normal, with shoot being O and square being long pass. Would this change things at all?

Also can anyone explain the direction of shots in relation to d-pad buttons? I've now worked out how to go near and far post, but the different heights (of course, using the power bar changes this) and angles are still a bit of a mystery to me.

Thanks

Hey.
I have the same problem. I can curl the ball in free kicks and corners, but not while in open play. I've tried loads of things aswell and i dont actually think iss allows you to do this.

About near and far post, its just a question of holding the dpad in the corresponding direction, isn't it??

Okay okay...I had to step up. Curling the ball on shots is very difficult for a few reasons. Mainly cos the ball is not stationary and the distance from ball to goal. To curl it for shooting two things have to be in place. the ball relation to player and your controls on the Dpad.

Situations when you can get a good curl on the ball, when the ball is to the left or right of a player or the player is coming in at a diagonal or parallel to the goal mouth. If you are coming down the left side of the field (the keepers right) you can curl the ball with the outside of your left foot to the keeprs left or you could curl it with the inside of your right foot to curl it to the keepers left. Either way when you shoot, immediately you let go of power you start the curl by pressing the Dpad left or right up or down (depending on position on the pitch). In the situation i described i'll be using down and right to curl the ball where i want it (assuming i'm attacking from left to right...are you with me? ;) ) If you press the Dpad direction too soon the shot will go near post instead of curling. Immediately you are done with the shoot that is when you press direction.

Practice makes better. So you would need to practice this. It's the same idea with freekicks, you shoot then curl (quickly) if not no curl.
