View Full Version : Why dont ISS
HailHenrik 05-11-2001, 11:30:AM Why dont ISS make the game basically the same as it as but with all the features of Fifa ie the leagues real domestic and euro competitions and the editing modes.
Im not bitching about ISS as its amazing but i just wanted to know if there was a reason why they dont as it would leave all other football game makers with no choice but to improve or quit.
How good would iss be with all the features of Fifa:D :D
because the licenses are f*cking expensive
HailHenrik 05-11-2001, 11:44:AM Fifa manage it if konami where to do this it would blow fifa wel and truly out of the water and iss would be he top game
Hell one thing that would do for me just now is to have Celtic and Rangers in it:)

Well, PES will have a FIFPRO licence and the player stats will be provided from the championship manager database, one of the most extensive in the world.
yeah they have ONE of the many licenses
like:
-Non-europe players
-All the leagues
Pere Ubu 05-11-2001, 11:49:AM Thing is, they could easily put in "Britannia League" with "London", "Manchester" etc., "Latin League" with "Milano", "International", "Turin" and so on. And if the player names AND team names were as easy to change as the international players are in ISS PE, it'd be fine. It took me about 20 minutes to rename every player in the world who was mispelt. A bit of jigging around and it'd be as full of features as FIFA, only good. It still wouldn't draw in the 12-year-olds but I don't think KCET worry about that anymore, looking at the way they're marketing the titles these days. They should realize that "International" Superstar Soccer is gone, now it's Pro Evolution Soccer and there's no need to simply have international teams, especially when most of the actual players turn up in both anyway.

While I would love the entire EPL in PES, it's a matter of QUALITY vs. QUANTITY - sure Fifa has 16 leagues, but ask anyone here, just ONE Master League is more engrossing and realistic than all 16 of those leagues put together. Why? Because the teams and players play like their real-life counterparts.
While Konami is a big company, KCET is not a big programming team. Hopefully if PES sells well in Europe they will include more teams, the only bad thing about that for North American gamers is that if they switch to DVD we won't be able to import it and play it on our PS2's here.
the_man 05-11-2001, 01:16:PM The problem is licenses. Back in the 98 no one needed so many licenses. Just ask Fifa they say yes, you can put everybody and their mothers team in your game (a la fifa98). Today, everybody wants to be No. 9 (literally  ) For example, Yeah sure PES got a European FIFPro license...but that only means they can use real player names (oooh, big deal, i'm jumping up and down  ) but they can't use jerseys that resemble the European nations' replica jerseys (like Holland with the black stripe across the middle, Italy with the white stripe across the chest, France with a Yugoslavia looking jersey, Yugoslavia with...you get the picture. Even fifa had problems with licenses this year.
Personally, I think Fifa should do something about it. Players and so on get enough money from....this is really a different issue.

You're very right...but at least having a FIFPro license will save me the effort of changing the names myself! Just kidding. It's really not a big deal. I'm getting PES, licenses or no licenses!
Konami can do a lot of people a pleasure by adding an editor in the game to make jerseys, edit teamnames etc.
Everybody happy! :)
Why don't they do that? I just heared from the_man howmuch memory the PS2 has and an editor doesn't take that much space on CD to reject the idea for that reason....

I think this is something ISS will need to include soon, this one simple thing would kill FIFA dead in its tracks on PS or PS2, simply make it like the FIFA editor where you change shirt, shorts, socks to one of many "standard" ones, Im not too bothered about the player names as long as I can edit them.
