Hi, I have one quick question and I'm sure someone here knows the answer: since the new J-League Winnin Eleven that just came out is NTSC, and American PS2's are also NTSC, does that mean I can get the new Japanese game and play it on my American pS2 WITHOUT a chip? (because both run on ntsc)....
how do you know it's ncts
japanese game aren't ncts
cos then the japanese wouldn't be able to play

Yes, the new J-League Winning Eleven 5 is NTSC (Japan and USA share the same TV system). Unfortunately, you still won't be able to play the game on your U.S. PS2 unless you mod-chip it.

Well, if you guys want a dependable answer, I'd ask the_man. He seems to know a lot about PAL and NTSC.

yeah, thanx bertkamp16. The fact that a japanese game won't work on your PS2 console has nothing to do with whether it is NTSC or PAL. Japanese games are NTSC, however Japanese games are made for Japanese PS2's. Hence it will not work on a USA PS2 without a chip (well, this is forging the truth a bit). The fact that the game is NTSC just means that your TV would most likely understand the video out put from the game. IF it were a PAL game, you would have to do a conversion either at the image level or at the level of the signal going into your TV.
