This season has not really been a good season in europe for the italian clubs.
it seems that the english teams are starting to take over at last!
whats your opinion on that is it just a one off thing that all italian teams are out of the uefa cup and that there are only few italian teams in the CL?
e.g.
roma out, fiorentina out, lazio maybe out, juventus out just to mane a few!!!

The reason why the italian teams except for Lazio havent got further this year is cause many of them are having problems not only in european championship, but also in serie A.Example no.1)Fiorentina,last year they were almost unbeatable, this year ,they lose against really weak teams like Venezia,so that explains one of the reasons.
2)Parma,same as Fiorentina, but this team is really pathetic ,they almost lose everytime in serie A despite having guys like Amoroso,Crespo and Buffon.
3)Milan,they badly started the season and thats what caused them to be out early in the season and they had pressure of being serie A 1999 champs.
4)Bologna,u actually tought they had a chance,Signori is the whole Bologan's offense
5)Udinese,nice young team, but they are not strong enough to go far, they would of been better if they had Amoroso.
6)Juventus,they never put their best players in Uefa, you always see guys like Bachini,Birindelli,Conte,Tudor, sometimes Rampulla,Kovacevic replacing guys like Zidane,Del Piero, sometimes Van der sar,Inzaghi,Pessotto.

Can't wait till Arsenal win UEFA,

Then we'll win Champions league next year.

ummmmm .... there are great English teams in both competitions ..... Arsenal and Leeds will most likely meet up in the finals .... but as for the ECL ..... forget ManU, forget Chelsea .... Barca is gonna win it ALL!! As for Arsenal next year .... well .... they have to qualify first .... and get past the first round .... if they do all that .... maybe you say they will win.

Until then ..... BARCA ALL THE WAY!!

May I remind all of you arrogant pricks that Spain also is still in the running. Celta have looked far more impressive than Leeds and Arsenal and that they could easily beat both of them. Barca have looked by far the best team in the Champions League and should they play Man Utd or Chelsea they were certainly win. Chelsea got out-played by a below-par Lazio side.

The question you should be asking is "Is Italian domination coming to an end?" I would have to say probably yes, right now there are teams in England, Spain and Germany that can rumble with the best of Italian without any inferiority complex.

But to answer your question- how is England taking over? Spanish league still has more teams in the cups, and will probably finish the year with the most points in UEFA, plus Spanish league was ranked 2nd to begin with, while England was 6th. We'll see how many places they can move up, but sure as heck they won't be moving higher than 3rd.

I would have to say England and Spain are performing at top level right now. Then Germany then Italy.Don't rule out Italian teams yet though! They still have the best league in the world, they just slipped a little in europe this year.

I would have to say though, Greece is improveing! We have alot of young players up and comeing!Olympiakos have established themselves in Europe,PAO is getting there,AEK,PAOK,ARIS, and so on have made good runs in the Uefa Cup,so we are on the rise! And we are 8th in Uefa in points so it looks pretty good.

Good god - one good year and suddenly English clubs are the best? Get a grip. The fact is that Italian clubs have had a poor season, leaving the door open for some other clubs. English clubs have had a good season so far, but anyone who saw Chelsea last night will have seen the weaknesses that Chelsea, Arsenal, Leeds, and, to a much lesser extent, Manchester United can show when they take their eye off the ball. The fact is that with the big Italian names out, other clubs will prosper - their nationality, be it English, Spanish, German, Czech etc. doesn't matter.
