yes I own the iso

it sucks

-cpu is cheating big time
-shots from 40 meters and so on, you know the stories

the thing that is most annoying me:
Cpu is only giving very long balls, that's the only thing they do
They don't use the midfield

by the way, all the long passes that they give are perfectly placed

Ha! Yeh man, it's lame lame lame. I rented it and after about an hour or two I just gave up. It's like all FIFAs, it's nothing remotely like football and it's both too hard and too easy - you can score 6 goals in a game easy, but you'll let in about 6 also. This is why it feels like there's no midfield, despite all those "new" passes they've added. Pathetic. The graphics and commentary are a step DOWN from Fifa 2001, and while the gameplay is better, it's still only on a par with Actua Soccer3. Even the things you assume EA get right, they don't - loads of missing transfers, wrong names, whole national sides with shirt numbers instead of names. The FIFA kids think our game is silly because Holland's strikers are called "Kluivertt" or "Van Nisletrooy", but in FIFA 2k2 they're called "No. 9" and "No. 10", so go figure. And the list of bugs is both lengthy and hilarious - stuff you'd never believe they'd actually leave in the finished game. Even if it was any good at all, the bugs would make it unplayable.

If what you mean is you're thinking of getting another football game for ps2 to ease the wait for PES, don't make it FIFA2k2. Don't even rent FIFA 2k2. This Is Football 2002 has all the leagues and MUCH better graphics, gameplay etc., though it's still a bit crappy. The best football title on PS2 at the moment (apart from imported WE5) is "International Superstar Soccer", the Major A one that came out last year. It's kind of cheesy and a bit too Japanese if you know what I mean (the conversion was so rushed the players all still have oriental features!) but it plays fairly well. Playing as the Under 23s is a weird but good option, and looks more realistic than a World Cup cos the whole game is all about scrappy midfield battles, shoulder barges and goals scored from breakaways, balls over the top and set plays. If you're enough of a real football fan that you'd prefer a game that plays realistically, but like the Scottish Division Two to a game that just looks like some entrenched basketball-playing American's idea of what SARKER is like, choose that over FIFA. It's worth renting.

I have TIF 2002 and I'll be trading that in for PES (whenever it comes out!!)

I have NO intention of buying FIFA2002 - I just wondered what people had to say about it.

FIFA 2002 has some nice ideas, but overall its just horrible. And the shooting is so bad. It really isnt worth your money.

FIFA 2002 is something of a paradox...it's actually got some really nice touches, some things are even better than ISS Pro2, but at the same time, there are some really bizarre and horrible aspects to the gameplay.

The new passing system can be woonderful...sometimes you can put together perfect passing moves with skillful thorugh balls...the cool thing being that you have to make the moves work...no more of "press a button and the CPU does the rest for you". At times (but rarely) it is more flexible than ISS.

However, the flaws are numerous and have a devastating impact upon the game as a whole. The CPU opponents are the most unrealistic and annoying I have seen in a long time and they completely ruin the 1 player game.

There are countless bugs and failings...all in all, with FIFA 2002 EA grazed the cross-bar but ultimately, they missed the target.

From what I've heard, Pro Evo is possibly going to incorporate some kind of "open" passing system akin to the new passing system FIFA 2002....That would be a definite plus and I'm sure that KCET will implement it with far more skill that EA.

I just wish KCET would give us some more club sides to play with.

Yes, and when I play I don't know if I should laugh or vomit - I've played about 3 complete seasons now and each time I play I think I would rather watch paint dry. I'm still working on my review.

It's especially hard to play now that I have JLWE5 on the PS2 as well, but I have to make sure I give Fifa a fair shot and I think I have - I'm sure I've played more games of Fifa 2002 than many of the Fifa fanboys on the other forum.

yes exactly

I gave fifa2k2 a chance too. Ea sports may did good work by improving the passing but this game is even more rubbish than fifa2k1 cos of the ##@$#%$^ Stupid AI of the CPU

IT'S SO BORING TO PLAY AGAINST THE CPU

and it's frustrating too
the only thing they do is long passes over 60 meters.
I hate them.

I have played both FIFA2002 and TIF2002 on PS2. Personally, I think TIF2002 has better gameplay.

FIFA2002 is just unreal! The positioning of the players especially in corners are so bad. It is unbelivable.

A paradox indeed, a nice summary there Culo, and apart from the many things that have already been mentioned before, the few things that i really find to be head banging annoying is the way that that ball floats or holds up on the last part of a long trajectory, the oversized ball that IMO is one of the worst visuals in the game, even my long suffering lady and the two kids made a comment about the size of the ball, with comments like .'oh look at that balloon on that screen', is that a real ball, and why is it bouncing like that etc etc .. how can a game be controlled when the ball can't be 100% controlled, linesmen mmm, did you ever take a close look at there antics with the flag, they dont seem to want to raise it for some reason or another, maybe its too heavy to lift hey ..Neutral LFC, mate you must have the patience of the Holy one to even consider playing this one to the limit, i know that you are preparing a final review about the game, and i raise my hat to you for your endurance, my final say about this game is :> It has the potential to be a very very good game indeed, that's if the EA team can get it right for the 2002 World Finals release, i find the passing system to be a very refreshing change from the past efforts, but as stated before more work needs to be added to iron out the glitches in there, the so called scorpion kick is ok for a laugh at times and the other flair move 'chest trap-knee check and half volley' is very good, but still needs to be tightened up, all in all i would say that about 20% of this game still needs attention to bring it all back up to speed .. Ned :)

I feel for stuie...I did the same thing. It's like some sort of brain affliction - you think that FIFA couldn't possibly be worse this year, and it looks so gosh durned purty...plus all the fanboys are drooling over how "realistic" the "alpha" release is, and somehow you throw caution to the wind and ultimately have to face the stinging realization that yes, it can actually get worse than last year.

I tried a nifty little experiment today - I created a team of players set to the lowest attributes, shortest height and lowest weight (the "Guinea Pigs") and team set to the highest attributes, tallest height and heaviest weight (the "Monsters") and let them both loose on the pitch. You really don't want to know what happened. Suffice it to say I found little difference between ANY sides or players - headers are still 50-50 despite the fact that it's doubtful the smaller side could realistically jump to chin level of the giants, players with "1" shooting attributes fire 500 mph bullets from outside the box just as those with a "7" (though in fairness they do miss more often). I never really realized how bankrupt this engine was until I did this.

In all, I'd have to say that 2002 is actually worse than the already abysmal 2001 for the reason that they took out the ability to play in a tournament or season with more than one human player. If there is any saving grace to FIFA it's in the fact that it can be a reasonably entertaining arcade game for human opponents. Most of the fun of that is sucked out by this new restriction. As a single player game it's somewhere between a root canal and watching paint dry on the fun scale. The rest is pretty much the same - the highly promoted new passing system is little more than window dressing.

What really did me in was finding today that the same injury bug from last year is still there. In the oft chance you ever see anyone get injured in a match, the sub suffers the same ailment when he appears on the pitch. Must be something contagious. This was reasonably well-known in last year's game and couldn't really be that hard to fix, yet it's still there. I think that speaks volumes. But hey, this year you can pick from like 40 different boot colors!!

Konami, you're nuts if you don't seize this growing frustration and widen the release of the ISS titles, including bringing the series to the PC. Thar's gold in them there disgruntled FIFA series hills.

lol stuie2k...sorry I spoke.....so, you mean you got a dodgy copy???

oh man blublub, your post makes for some grim reading....the stuff about the giants v the dwarfs only goes to highlight the complete lack of heart to this god-awful game.

The idea that EA need only make a few tweaks and then they'll have a great game on their hands is now clearly dead and buried. The game is evidently rotten to the core and frankly, I have absolutely no faith whatsoever in EA to ever, EVER get it right. They've had nearly a decade to put together a comprehensive and water-tight game and they're still as far away as ever.

I am, as of now, officially giving up hope of ever seeing a decent EA fotty game and will stick exclusively to Pro Evo from now only. The very first version of ISS all those years ago still completely out-shines the very latest FIFA.

If EA and the Konami KCET team both started out in Division 3, whilst EA are still trying to make the Div 3 play-offs year-on-year, KCET have steadily progressed to the top of the Premiership.
