View Full Version : PES in USA
osu20asu17 12-11-2001, 10:30:PM I know this topic has been discussed before in this forum but I want to bring up the idea once again of this game being shipped to the US.
I remember reading a post that IGN(UK) had talked about this game coming to America, could someone give me that web address, cause I haven't found it?
Also has anyone heard from any other sources about this game getting shipped to the US?
And my last question is about illegal(or legal) copies of the game that you can buy. I noticed the name Kalisto being tossed around. Is it possible to get a copied game like this and be able to play on an unmodified PS2? If not what kind of price would I be looking at if I chipped my PS2 and bought a copied version of PES?
Thanks for your help guys...
FIOT Commish 14-11-2001, 02:22:PM I remember that item from IGN - it is all I have ever seen that even hinted at the possibility of PES making it to the States. I've since gone back and looked for it and couldn't find it either. I wonder if they pulled it?
Also, over on the sportsreviewers.com forum a guy named Macca has been sharing his experiences with the steps necessary to get it to work with US systems - it's an extremely helpful resource.
In the meantime, pick up MLS Extratime if you haven't already - it's not PES, but it's the closest thing we've got. Hopefully next year's version (if there is one) will be more in line with the rest of the series.
the_man 14-11-2001, 03:35:PM about ESPN MLS Extra time...after weeks of playing WE5, I broke my GS cd, so i couldn't boot WE5...I slipped EMET into my PS2, gosh it sucked compared to. Moral of the story...I don't trust KCEA (Konami's america division based in Honolulu), that is why I get my game straight from the source (KCET or KCEE) i suggest you guys do the same, but if you do want to wait, be my guest.

I know what you mean, I couldn't even bear to play ESPN MLS ExtraTime, ISS PE and MLS GameNight (I owned all three) after playing ISS PE2 for several weeks non-stop. Now that I have JLWE5....well lets just say ISSPE2 is now relegated to the unbearable category.
And by unbearable, in both instances, I still mean a hell of a lot better than Fifa ;)
danger zone 14-11-2001, 06:53:PM You guys make me feel stupid. Here am I still playing the ****e out of ISS 1 and there have been two additions since. USA land of the free? Not until PES is on the shelves here!!!!!!!!:(
FIOT Commish 15-11-2001, 01:18:AM I don't disagree that Extratime is inferior to the others, my point being that it's the best thing we have in the US "off the shelf." It's such a huge hassle for the average person to line up all the ducks in a row to play the imports that I doubt 99% will ever bother.
And if more people bought Extratime I bet we might convince Konami that there's a market here for ISS proper. Meanwhile, if it continues to get outsold by FIFA by like 30:1 our case is pretty weak.
Also, Man, I wonder if you can elaborate the ways in which Extratime is inferior? Putting aside the question of MLS vs. European sides, are there gameplay elements that could be improved? Obviously the two biggest problems are the non-adjustable game speed and the lack of a player editor, but if these were addressed in the next release does this have potential?
CosaNostra 15-11-2001, 01:39:AM It's an entirely different game.
Konami's got two developing teams, KCEO and KCET. KCEO, with all due respect, makes a mediocre, average footie with some nice aspects. KCET's version is the game we in Europe love sooo much. I'm not 100%, but I think MLS is a KCEO game. If I'm right there's no use comparing them. There just to different, gameplaywise.
stuie2k 15-11-2001, 01:41:AM Chipped ps2 by a pro =approx 40GBP or 70 ish dollars
Region X (my preference over AR)=20GBP around 35 dollars
A copy of PES 35 GBP off the shelf or less if you look on MIRC.
Then youll be the envy of the States :)
FIOT Commish 15-11-2001, 02:46:AM stuie, thanks. What exactly is "Region X"? Also, how do you overcome the PAL-NTSC problem? I've heard there is a patch, but haven't been able to locate one.
