View Full Version : Fifa 2002 - if this is meant to be good, FIFA 2001 must have been awful.

Hi,

I 've just rented out FIFA 2001 on the PS2 for a couple of days, after reading several favourable reviews regarding EA's new game, i wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

Dissapointed? Indeed! The players are huge in this game, they look like they play for a rugby union side! As for looking like there real life counter-parts, they are some vague similarities, and there skills don't seem to match as well, Owen is far two slow!

They are a few good elements though, pitch side graphics like camera's and secruity are a nice touch, commentry is good (well a lot better than ISS PRO EVO 2 any. ) I liked the passing power gage, this seemed a realistic approch to the passing game. Tackling seemed hap-hazard as well as heading. Some of the camera angle we good though - allowing a good over view of the play.

Being a ISS fan, i guess there's going to be a slight biased in my thoughts about the FIFA series, but in terms of gameplay, FIFA 2002 still falls short of ISS Pro Evo 2 (ps) - I can only imagine PES will improve on this.

I wont be buying FIFA, and look forward to the 16th or 23rd of Nov (i read conflicting release dates) to buying the best soccer game on console or pc.

True, even FIFA 2002's one redeeming feature, the new passing model, is nothing more than a gimmick....
After playing the PC demo off and on for a week or so you realise that the passing isn't as variable as EA would like us to think. There seems to be only 3 or 4 different variables on the power bar and not completely analogue try a small through ball in the middle of the park, its impossible.
Be thankful you're getting PES this month...we'll be lucky to see it in Australia before christmas :(

Oz uses a PAL system, doesn't it? So surely UK games will run fine on an Australian PS2/TV?

If that's the case, there must be a way you can buy online or get someone in Britain to buy it for you then bung it in the post? I'd do it for you myself, except I imagine you wouldn't want to send £40 to a stranger!

Yeah Ive got relatives in the UK so I suppose thats an option but the Oz dollar is rubbish against the pound at the moment, probably cost me an extra $30-$40 just to get it a month earlier....its tempting though because PES is the only reason I'm getting a PS2, possibly GTA3 aswell though.

AS for trusting you with the money... if I remember correctly you were the freelance guy in need of money... :D

LOL good point

Might be worth that extra cash....I'd pay half as much again if I could get PES this week, and there's only a week to go!
