k.. first off.. I am American... lol... yeah yeah... well.. I have played soccer/football since I was 3...

any ways.. I got FIFA 2002 here in the US on the PS2 when it released.. AND I'm already bored of it. It's too arcadish on the highest level setting of the game.... AND my biggest bash of it is.. WHY can't you control the keepers anymore these days like you could back on the GENESIS? AND the AI is horrible on the highest setting.. I never see defeders just sit there and let you dribble right by then... any ways.. back then.. FIFA games were awesome... I don't understand why you can't control the keeper in it.......... I hate when the CPU keeper lets in a CHIT goal. that totally pisses me off... doesn't EA know that we want to control the keeper ourselves? k.. now the reason I'm posting in this forum is.. because I want to know MORE about ISS and/or Konami's new PS2 game coming out. so.. below.. here are my questions...

1. When is the new Konami footie game coming out on the PS2 in Europe... and if and when will it ever COME out here in the US?

2. Could import the Euro version of this game and play it on my American PS2?

3. Where all the UKish web sites that probably has previews of this game out and stuff? I can't find any info about this up coming games on the US game sites.. they obviously do NOT care or even know anything about it......

4. Does anyone know if you can control your keeper in this new one? could you control the keeper in the last one? (first one on the PS2)

5. What is the TIF game I hear talked about here sometimes?

bottomline.. I want the best possible footie game to play on my PS2... I pissed that the Dreamcast never got a great one.. and now I'm starting to get pissed the PS2 isn't...

1. It is supposed to be released on November 23rd in Europe, the US release is yet to be announced.

2. Yup, but you'll need to chip your PS2, and you will need some sort of box to convert the PAL signals to NTSC. Ask the_man for more specific info on this part.

3. Take a look at:

http://www.sportplanet.com/iss
http://www.wegrinta.it/English.shtml
http://www.gamespot.co.uk
http://www.playscope.com (Vids of the game)
http://www.proevolutionsoccer.com (More vids)

4. Yeah, you can control the keeper. At least you could in the earlier versions, so I assume you can in PES aswell.

5. TIF = This is Football. Better than Fifa in my opinion, but not anywhere near what PES are going to be. :)

These answers are based on information gained from these forums........

1. When is the new Konami footie game coming out on the PS2 in Europe... and if and when will it ever COME out here in the US?

- the date seems to be changing, but expect it later this month in Europe

2. Could import the Euro version of this game and play it on my American PS2?

- yes.. but you'd need your PS2 chipped

3. Where all the UKish web sites that probably has previews of this game out and stuff? I can't find any info about this up coming games on the US game sites.. they obviously do NOT care or even know anything about it......

- see grashed's reply above

4. Does anyone know if you can control your keeper in this new one? could you control the keeper in the last one? (first one on the PS2)

- in ISS PE2 (the most recent ISS game) you could bring the keeper charging out, and control him on the ball, but you cannot select him for making saves etc. you can, however, have full control over the keeper on the awful ISS 2000 (not by the makers of ISS PE 2) on PS1

5. What is the TIF game I hear talked about here sometimes?

- TIF stands for This is Football, a game by Sony. I enjoyed TIF2 on PS1 a lot, but not as much as ISS. The new version - TIF 2002 - is out on PS2. It's very good, but I'd wait for PES to come out..

Hooray! Another convert in waiting.....

There's a link to a review on this forum somewhere - the thread title says "new review" or something - and you could also try www.computerandvideogames.com or www.gamespot.co.uk (is that the right address?). Also try www.google.co.uk and check the "only show pages from the uk" box, then search for Pro Evolution Soccer - there are a few previews and reviews that'll come up there.

The Americans here will help you with whether you can run it on the US system but there is a way of doing it, or else they wouldn't be here. The game's out in Europe in 9 days and for America they'll probably modify it and release it next year with an MLS franchise - if you're an MLS fan, wait for that, but if you follow european football get the original game as the European versions of ISS games are usually a fraction better than the later MLS versions.

You can move the goalkeeper out to pressurize a goalbound striker, you can roll the ball to a defender who passes back to you allowing you to move out of your area with the ball at your feet like Barthez, and you can obviously control the keeper at penalties. Don't think you can control him in-game, but it wouldn't work anyway, because you'd only be able to jump in 8 directions and the CPU strikers are more cunning than that. You have to close them down with your defence.

TIF is This Is Football 2002 - a kind of FIFA 2002-type game improved by adding ISS-style simulation details. It's strengths are graphics (amazing) and the stunning totally moveable camera on replays (you cann zoom up into the stands and look at the stewards, close-up of the flares in the crowd and stuff), but the gameplay, while much better than FIFA, is just NOTHING AT ALL compared to ISS Pro Evolution, never mind Pro Evo Soccer on PS2.

You've made the right choice, you came to the right place mate. Haha - once you've got into PES your life will never be the same again.....

(BY THE WAY the last Konami game on the PS2 - ISS 2000 - is made by different developers to PES and has nothing in common with it. It's fun and it gives you an idea of the increased subtelty of konami titles compared to EA, but it's nothing special. Iff you haven't already tried it, rent ISS Pro Evolution 2 for the PS1, which is the real predecessor of PES and gives you a proper idea of what the new game will be like)

The Americans Love fifa

WHAT? FIFA is the least popular sports game in the American market probably... I think games like Acclaims QB Club sell better than it. LOL

I know all of EA's other games sell better than FIFA does here.

well.. I'm hoping you can take control of the keeper and make saves with him... WHY do developers get lazy and NOT have this option? We had this option back in the 16-bit days.. BUT can't have it now? WTF... it pisses me off.. taking control of the keeper is VERY fun for me and my buddies. it might not matter to some people.. but it matters to us.. WE want to be able to stop our opponants shots ourselves and get burned ourselves!

and.. I guess I wont being importing the PAL version.. to much to do.. i'm not modding my PS2 to do that.. gawd damn it... I'm pretty sure I heard people saying it will release here in March next year.

also... I imported games on the Dreamcast and played with the game shark.. I guess you can't do that with PS2?
