I install FIFA but when I try to run it, the first screen appears and then a while after a message saying FIFA 2002 installed incorrectly, please reinstall appears. I downloaded directX 8.1 and it still doesnt work. However, in my 3D setup...there's nothing in the drop down menus. I dont have 3D card but shouldnt there be a software rendering option?

Actually I don't think that FIFA2002 runs without a 3D card.. and there is no software option. :(
Don't worry about it, I'm experiencing the same problem, even with a 3D (Geforce card).
At this moment, I've got EA technical team looking into the problem, so once a reply is received and the game actually work, I'll post the answer for all us sufferers.
Finally got the game running - no help from EA UK tech Support staff. (knowing those ****'s they would nick this fix and claimed that they resolved my problem).
Let me explain situation (for those who may have same problem):
Tried to run game on Win 2000 - AMD processor and kept on getting error message about incorrect installation when trying to play game.
Anyway, enough small talk - how I resolved problem:
I simply downloaded an AMD download file for the Athlon and AGP process for Windows 2000. This was after downloading all the latest graphic cards (Ge-force) and sound card drivers.
The file can be located at the AMD website - under processors and then the technical resources section. Click on the Athlon logo at the bottom of the pae and click on the Utilities/drivers link located on the right hand side. - File was called Windows 2000 patch for AGP Applications.
To finally play the game on the 1280 resolution was a joy.
Was it worth all this hassle? I tell you guys in a few weeks.
It this doesn't resolve it - the other thing I did which may have cause some influence was the Flash upgrade I carried out on my MoBo Bios - Not specifically for resolving this problem
