It's a review for the PS2 version.

I can't see how pre-patch PC FIFA 2002 could be considered much better.

It's hopeless.

Cause it's Neutral writing that! You'll see him here everyday saying how much FIFA sucks. :D

Yeah, even if i'm an iss fan and that i agree most of the things in this review, it's a little bit (maybe a lot) exagerated, and this review is highly biased though...

I can understand that some people like fifa and like to defend it, but yes that review is biased, but the thing is it is all true. Just that some fifa fans don't notice it or try to avoid it somehow or even over look it.

Yeah all is true, but giving 50 /100 for fifa is a bit exagerated, and also it seems that there isn't any good point in fifa besides of the commentaries

When reviewing a shyte game, isn't it a little difficult not to be biased? Really? He said the truth, and conveyed the actual feel of this laughable footy arcader, I comment him for it. In any review, people are uinterested in the good and the bad, it's not Lavans fault if FIFA2002 is mostly bad. And comparing it to to it's closest competitor is also expected, nay, demanded of a good review. After playing FIFA2002 for a week, I'd give it a 30% rating, no higher, it's shocking !

The review is harsh but frankly, it is brutally honest. There is nothing in that review that I can argue with.

It is utterly appauling that EA have released what is clearly an unfinished product in order to cash in on the Christmas market and their FIFA licence and for the moderators to defend EA and their laughable game is ridiculous.

The sheer number of glaringly obvious bugs, flaws, errors and omissions in the game is nothing short of embarassing. It is a public humiliation for EA.

To my mind, the announcement by EA that they will be releasing a patch at such an early stage after the release of the game does not show that they are concerned about customer satisfaction. Rather, it is an admission that FIFA 2002 was nowhere near finished when they decided to just throw it out on the market and hope for the best. They can stick their patch up their corporate ass.

I was lucky, I got my money back. I will never buy an EA FIFA game again. I think that the list of people with a similar mindset is growing by the day.

I'm defending it because it would be nice to get an argument with Landan (Neutral), who is an avid ISS fan. :D I'd probably lose though.

It's Lavan not Landan. But I have to agree that Lavan's review was a bit harsh. The truth hurts and Lavan is 100% correct with all the criticism cited in the review. You have to admit that he did goes into details that other reviewer would never do.

Thanks for the praise and the criticism guys (I mean it).

Just a few points;

Of course I am biased. I am biased towards good games, and Fifa 2002 for the PS2 is not a very good game. People say I hate EA Sports but ignore the fact I gave 80%+ scores to NHL 2001 & NHL 2002 , have nothing but good stuff to say about NBA Street, SSX, and Madden 2002, and own more EA Sports games than from any other company. They say I unfairly hate the entire Fifa series - but I clearly state that I loved Fifa 98:RTWC and WC: 98.

I know not everyone agree with my reviews & my opinions, and that's fine, and in truth that's to be expected. But I do feel my reviews have more depth than the average review; I could have easily gone 'FIFA 2002 SUCKS DONKEY BALLS!', but instead I adressed each specific part of the gameplay, graphics, options and presentation. Ze Penguin, you feel that I didn't mention much good about Fifa 2002 except for commentary - why? Because, apart from the commentary nothing much is good in Fifa 2002 for the PS2 - what good features of Fifa do you feel I left out or was harsh upon?

I also don't belive in the whole 'you can't compare ISS to Fifa' BS, you sure as hell can compare two soccer games to each other. NFL football fans don't go; "Oh you can't compare Madden 2002 to NFL2k2 and QBC 2002". Both Fifa and ISS Pro(s) are live-action football games, and thus can be compared, and IMO Fifa 2002 doesn't even match up against ISS Pro Evo 1 (almost 3 years old now) in terms of gameplay depth, realism and fun-factor. ISS PE2 and JLWE5/PES are on a different plane altogher. While the PC version is better than the PS2 version, the various patches still do not correct many of the flaws in the simplistic gameplay - but that's another review. ;)

And even in the very end of my review; I basically stat that if you're a Fifa fan then you'll like Fifa 2002. If you're not, and have been playing ISS Pro Evo/MLS GameNight you won't like Fifa 2002.

To those those who say I am an ISS & Konami fanboy should read my ESPN MLS ExtraTime review - I gave it a sub 80 score, and I lambasted Konami for being so lazy as to reuse the ISSPE1 code instead of using ISSPE2 or WE5 as a base. We don't sweetcoat our reviews at SGN, if JLWE5 sucks (which it doesn't) we'll tell you in depth, if it's great, we'll tell you in-depth as well.

Finally, you want something to make your blood boil? The PSX version of Fifa 2002 has SNOW and hot weather conditions, IGM & IGT! EA Sports' Canada just boggles the mind sometimes...

[btw, my ISP has gone down the crapper so I can only use the net at Uni, so it may take a while to reply to posts]

dude neutralīs review was excelent!! is one of th best reviews ive ever read...compare neutralīs review to the highly biased Joe and Mattīs reviews...dont say Neutral didnt say anything good about fifa..well,maybe because there ISNT anything good about it...now u cant say LICENSES,now u cant say OPTIONS now u cant say GAME MODES,the only kinda good thing are the graphics..which arent too good at all..the transitions between animations are awful..unlike ISSPE on the psx...

"However, in theory [censored] could be sued for defamation with comments like that, since the claims of EA being fraudulant are not true. Although it is unlikely EA would sue him, it is well within their power to do so, and I am sure EA reps do read these forums, maybe not often enough."
- Fifa 2002 Forum Moderator, Gareth

thanks btw for saving that great quote from getting lost to the world in the great forum nuke of last week... if we are speaking about BIASES here, why don't everyone read that one first... after all, it's from one of the groups moderators...

Is there an indepth review out there that states all of fifas good vs bad points & weighs them objectively? not yet.

It'll be interesting to read the coming magazine reviews, then we'll really see who's in ea's pocket
