yes, it's true, EA have emailed me confirming they will soon be brining out an update, available in the shops (shouldn't it be for free to us??)

20-11-2001, 12:25:PM
This update had better be free as a download to all of us registered, legal users or there are going to be a lot of very p***ed off people! (Me being one of them!)

if this is true and the update is'nt free....then EA deserve a kick in the nuts ...........thats if they have any........

I hope its true and free, because the number of bugs is amazing!!! If they try to sell it and dont set it free for us, I think everyone should take a stand!!!

What exactly is this update???

Is it a version with bug fixes or does it have extra features?

What did the email say?

Ove Kindvall
20-11-2001, 01:25:PM
You say only to people who have registered. That's true, but I bought the original and I can not register. My country is not listed in the register form. So that means that I got to pay for the update. No way.

looks like EA confessing to their mistakes and trying their hardest to challenge a particular title that is coming out this friday........

Good try EA but you still have no chance.

20-11-2001, 03:31:PM
What the?! FIFA2002 was below expectations and they expect people to pay for an update (we don't even know if they'll improve anything important).

maddog1983
20-11-2001, 04:01:PM
why would EA email you and not post anything on the official website ? and why would they not charge for an update .. think about it make a **** game charge $20 for a patch disc that "updates everything and improves gameplay" most owners would go and buy it extra cash for EA . (I reckon that stinks!)

Maybe the update is called "EA Sports World Cup 2002" avaliable in six months?

bertkamp16
20-11-2001, 04:55:PM
A majority of the people in this forum have WAYYYYY to much faith in EA Sports. Screw FIFA 2002 and screw their update. It makes me laugh when I hear so many of you complain about FIFA 2002 and you'll all be the same people that purchase the World Cup version this summer. EA is screwing you guys and you're asking for more. So sad.

If all you FIFA fans would just get together, say SCREW FIFA, buy Pro Soccer Evolution or ISS or anything other than FIFA, you can bet your ass that when EA Sports sees their sales plummeting, they'll fix their weak ass game real quick. Don't be a mindless ****ing FIFA zombie. FIFA is garbage and the faster you all come to realize that EA is NOT listening to your damn ideas and that there ARE better games out there, the better off you'll be. I was a FIFA fan but it's been all downhill since RTWC '98. My brother and I made a promise to absolutely NEVER buy another FIFA game unless they came correct with 2002. We put up with '99, '00, and '01 because we didn't think there was a better alternative. Boy, were we ever wrong. Well, they came with more trash for 2002 and my brother and I said "that's it." I bought ISS Pro Evolution Soccer and my brother and I haven't looked back since. All I ask is that you break the monotony. Don't let EA Sports take your hard earned money. Take my advice...you'll thank me for it, I guarantee it.

True Bertkamp, but some of us PC football gamers don't own consoles. Right now FIFA is the best choice out of a very small variety of PC football games so there isn't much we can do except buy a console.

The one and only reason I come to the FIFA 2002 forum is to try to get you FIFA fans to see the light. For all of you regulars at this FIFA 2002 forum, it's just so easy to see. Just look around you. Every day that you come to see the threads and post your opinions and ideas, didn't you ever notice that all you FIFA fans ever do at this forum is bitch about this damn game? Come to the ISS and PES forum and all you read is about us singing the praises of the games we love. Exchanging stories of valiant comebacks and bitter last second defeats. Recounting our greatest goals, with people who understand what it means to score a goal that is deeply satisfying because you actually built up an attack, possesed the ball with determination, and scored the goal that you REALLY felt you earned, not some lame repeat of a goal you score in the same manner every other game. You guys just don't know the rush of adrenaline felt when you score a sick volley or bicycle kick. I've been playing ISS for a couple of months and just recently got one of both. In real life, even for the great teams, bicycles kicks are a once or twice a season moment of magic. I just want you all you guys to feel the magic as well. :)

It's a lost cause mate. Fifa fans don't have what it takes to get EA to fix the series. All they want is more leagues and more teams. That's all they care. I really don't see the point of having every damn teams in the world and yet the gameplay sucks. Every team play the same and there is no strategies involve. There is no replay value. I would rather that EA spent the money on improving the gameplay than securing all the license for every league in the world. Until Fifa fans grow up and realize that the gameplay sucks, EA will never change.

It can't all be lost V-9. In this very forum a couple of months back, someone from the ISS forum came here and converted me. If I can get just a few people to realize the error of their ways and go against the grain, I'll be a happy man. My friend from ISS forum made me see the light, so now I have to pay it forward. Screw all the damn leagues and screw the damn teams. Go against the grain my friends.

Or wait till after Xmas and buy a PS2 for about Ģ120 and PES

Since you have said you haven't bought Fifa2002, I assume you haven't played it, therefore you can't know that scoring a goal isn't done by using the same moves over and over again. You have to try and score just in the same way that you describe for ISS, I have played nearly 50 games of Fifa2002, and I have yet to score a bicycle kick goal, or use the same move again and again to score, unless you count crossing the ball in to the box, which is what happens in real football.

Fifa2002 is a great game, if you don't like it fine, you don't like it, but a lot of us do, so please, have some respect for that.

Do you think we were born yesterday? of course EA or any other publisher does NOT put out a revised version of a game, have ever heard of a patch to download? thats what companies do if something needs putting right. and they never release a console game unless its ready, because theres no going back with console games.

And the game will have a newer version next may, it will be World cup 2002 if thats what you are getting at.

In The Worse Case It Will Only Change The Teams Line-up players and formationm not more.

So I'm Not Really Excited About This Update..

and another question that comes up my mind is why the hell should EA email you about it and not post a message in their offical site !??!?

Don't "assume" anything. Assuming is a sure fire way to lose an argument. "I assume you haven't played it, therefore you can't know that scoring a goal isn't done by using the same moves over and over again." Where did I say that you can score goals by using the same moves over and over again. You even managed to draw a conclusion from your assumption. All you did was kick your own argument in the ass. Sorry to break the news to you, but I have played your weak ass fifa 2002 or I wouldn't be saying it was weak ass. Where in what I wrote does it say anything about using the same moves over and over. I said "not some lame repeat of a goal you score in the same manner every other game"
If your gonna argue with me, at least make it a logical, thought out rebuttal. Like I said earlier, assuming is a sure fire way to lose an argument.

Jeez, what whiners!!!! There are three certainties in life: 1.) One month before Christmas, EA Sports will release a new FIFA game; 2.) almost immediately, people will start posting, claiming that they are taking the weakest teams and winning championships on the highest, most difficult setting; and 3.) people will criticize the game without pause. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, DON'T PLAY IT. You guys must be a real pain in the rear to live with: one criticism after another.

100% with you on this one! I have all FIFA games. At this point EA just milking us for $$$. I don't want to buy PS2, that's why I'm getting FIFA year after year. EA fixes one thing and brakes the other every year!
Instead of writing letters to EA, send petition to Konami and ask them to bring ISS to PC.
I DON'T CARE WHAT WILL IT BE - FIFA OR ISS!
I WANT TO PLAY THE BEST FOOTBALL GAME THERE IS!!!!

Yes you can play ISS PRO EVOLUTION 1/2 on your PC, all you need is to downlaod the epxse emulator and buy the game, the graphics look much better than they do on your tv, and it works perfectly for most computers. Come to the ISS/PES forum and people will advise you on how to go about it.

To all the people that say "IF YOU DON'T LIKE FIFA, DON'T BUY IT", of course people can do that, and I have done it. But this is a very stupid argument because we agree with that, but we want to help people understand that they are much better alternatives out there. I know some people like fifa, but this games has so many bugs, and you are willing to accept that?
its an unfinshed game and you are also willing to accept that?

I also just come in this forum to spread the word about ISS/PES. I can understand that some people only have a PC, because I was like that a year ago and I decided to get a psone which was about Ģ40.

Tell me something do you fifa fans still enjoy playing FIFA2001 or FIFA99? well of course you don't. And I am sitting here with my ISSPE2 that was realesed about 2 years ago and the game is still excellent, I still don't win all my matches and I have only scored one scorpion kick. From when I bought this game I started something called the master league and almost 2 years later I haven't completed all the ongoing seasons. The longedivty of this game is incredible.

I try not to bash fifa, all I do is try to persuade people that there is something out there that is more like football. You fifa fans will never understand untill you try.

From when I started posting in this forum I have seen allot of people convert from FIFA to ISS, and none of them people have argued that it was the wrong move.

Just look at the ISS/PES forum, we never complain about the game, all we do is praise it, while you people are trying to make a patch every second to try and fix all the MAJOR PROBLEMS.

Fifa fans just give it a try for the sake of football, you will never regret it.
