View Full Version : music importer
wizard 19-11-1999, 10:34:PM i dont get how the music importer - at soccergaming.com but not at fifa2000.net can be used in fifa2000. it changes the files into .asf which seems to be used in nhl 2000 but fifa uses .str for it's music.
is there something im not understanding???
please help
Batistuta 19-11-1999, 11:15:PM I think you can rename the .asf files to .str
I haven't tried it as yet but I am about too. I'm think I read somewhere that the files are the same format so renaming them won't do any harm. So it should work.

Giovanni 20-11-1999, 02:59:AM Yes, renaming to .str works just fine. I have another question: how to convert those .str files to .wav? I get a ”corrupt sound file” error from sndview.
wizard 20-11-1999, 04:35:AM yep - that works great
the thing is i have the warez version which only came with one song - so although i have made 8 .str files and called them fifa0000.str upto ...0007.str only 0000.str plays and just keeps repeating itself.
does anyone have a solution????
i think it has to do with music.ini and music.ver
Giovanni 20-11-1999, 03:29:PM I have both the warez and the final version on my disk. The difference is in the music.inf file (located in data/audio/music) wich points to the sound files to be used by the program. In the warez version this .inf file has only fifa0000.str file mentioned and by adding the rest (fifa0001.str etc.) the program should behave just like the final version. music.inf from that version looks like this:
fifa0000fifa0001fifa0002fifa0003fifa0004fifa0005fi fa0006fifa0007
LiverpoolFAN 20-11-1999, 08:27:PM how come when i try to rename my file it turns out to be like this, fifa0000.str.asf?
wizard 21-11-1999, 12:42:AM i tried putting in that line in the ini file but when i start up the game it crashes before the first screen.
Batistuta 21-11-1999, 12:48:AM LiverpoolFan, it should ask you whether or not to change the extension (or something like that). Just click on Yes and everything should work properly. (btw this is on Win95)

burner 21-11-1999, 04:38:AM how can I export fifa2000 sound files to Wav?mp3?whatever?
LiverpoolFAN 21-11-1999, 03:02:PM When I changed the .str files and then put in that line in the ini file the game before it got to the first screen. Then an error comes up, saying DHelp error or something. The next time i start it i can get into the game but there is no sound at all! Not even the menus sounds!
DaSerf2000 21-11-1999, 04:50:PM Hey everyone, I'm going to post all the steps you need to use the NHL music importer on Fifa 2000, I'll post it soon on this forum
Gobby 21-11-1999, 07:20:PM If you have a warez version of FIFA 2000, the music maker will NOT work. You will need a the original music.inf file. I e-mailed my music.inf to someone with a warez version, and his new .str files worked fine after that.
Giovanni 21-11-1999, 08:34:PM Well, there was one little thing that I forgot to tell: the music.inf file should be edited with some hex editor, not with notepad or other program like that. Once again I apologise for the mistake.
LiverpoolFAN 21-11-1999, 10:30:PM Hey gobby do u think u could e-mail me your .inf file?
Bateman 22-11-1999, 02:16:AM NHL 2000 Ditty Importer is a great program. It`s fast and converts directly from mp3 to asf files (rename to .str for Fifa2000). It´s a pity that this program doesn´t work with the asf files of NFS High Stakes ( I dont know the reason ), so I have to use sndview to change the music of this game.
Bstrupar 22-11-1999, 06:39:AM If the renaming under windows doensn't work then do it in dos
this the comamand
rename fifa0000.asf fifa0000.str
fatyap 24-11-1999, 01:02:PM I think I had did something wrong on the music.inf file. Now whenever I start the game it goes back to desktop before the first screen when it want to load the music. I would be gladful if anybody can send your music.inf file to me. Thanks!
