It was already bad in 2001, it has got worse with 2002. I pass into free space, press B to control the player who's supposed to get the ball, and the game selects a different player for me. I press B again, again, again, again, it select *any* player but the one I want.
Sometimes it's just ridiculous. I play a 3:4:3 formation with the central striker up front. In a counter attack from the right wing striker I play a pass into the middle where the central striker waits. The pass is precise it goes right to his feet. I have already pressed shoot to power up (like I have had to since 2001) -- and the %$#& player just does not take it!!! He just lets the ball pass by, like it was not for him! This has happened not only once, it happens almost every time I try to play that move. What bloody sh%^$ is that???
Even worse, sometimes I move a player towards the ball, and while moving the game shifts control to a different player. I had this recently, playing Uruguay against Brazil, near the end of the match after luckily having held a 0:0 until then, a striker enters my half, I attack using the shoot key, everything's fine, but suddenly the focus shifts to some other player, and before I could even realize what has happened the striker was through.
Have you suffered from the same problem? Is there any option to switch off this silly "auto-selecting" they seem to have introduced for 2002?
