It had more leagues (which had a multiplayer option) and Custom Cups (also Multiplayer) FIFA 99 improved the graphics and AI from 98 and added some new special moves... that is how it won my vote! Although i was cursing at EA for removing the indoor option, I found it the most playable and most enjoyable! The FIFA's after that were just carbon copies of each other with some minor improvements. FIFA 98 was a big step forward for the series... Proof indeed that EA are going backwards, not forwards. For all their efforts to make the gameplay more realistic with a free passing system, they really need to ensure that they get the basics right first. They had a great game 4 years ago and have steadily dismantled it. Keep on voting, perhaps EA will take note and start to get things right again. No, it's just because it is the best action soccer game overall ever released for PC. The number of teams, the World Cup Qualification, realistic game play... The list goes on and on. If EA hadn't made all these DUMB mistakes in the game, FIfa 2002 would be the best definetely!
