Isn't it funny?

Four years ago, a football game called FIFA Road to World Cup 98
was released by EA Sports. The game had no hype up, no build up and to be honest, not that many people knew about it until they actually saw the game in shops or maybe bought it. Everyone thought the game was great. It was talked about. It was well-known and it was becoming so popular that nearly every boy you spoke to at school had FIFA.
Now here we are four years later. EA Sports had lorry loads of money following their last 3 releases, 99, 00 and 2001. FIFA 2002 had a huge build up, an advert and promises for 'football'. What we get is probably the most boring, repetitive, unrealistic football game made by EA Sports.
What happened to FIFA after RTWC 98? Each year the game has become worse than its prior and after playing RTWC 98 I've just finally realized that FIFA 99, 2000, 2001 and 2002 are just not football. In fact, they are an insult to the beautiful game.
RTWC is beautiful. It is addictive and unpredictable and with the update the best football game on PC ever made so far.
Yes, it sounds strange saying that, considering it was released four years ago, so EA you really have got to sort it out.

So, I've thought of a solution.

EA Sports obviously love to surprise everyone. If we don't pressurize EA, or if we don't have a big build up and OTT demo withdrawal symptoms like what happened this time, then EA might just release a game that we will like and love forever.
Just like they did with RTWC 98

What you say is just too true.

I totally agree with you. EA indeed has the money to make it possible to create a game better than FIFA RTWC 98 but it still hasn't happened and I think it will take more than one more year until they come close.

If anyone wants to try FIFA RTWC 98 go here (http://www.soccergaming.tv/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26075) then download The Official FIFA RTWC Update (http://www.FIFARTWC.cjb.net).

I don't agree with you. My favourite is FIFA99. Fifa 98 is very good except for the graphics. But it's better than 2000

Will the official Fifa RTWC work with Fifa World Cup 98?

No , the update is made for FIFA RTWC 98, but you can (by using WEd98), transfer a team from the update to replace a team in WC98... So in some sense it is also compatible with WC98. The commentaries will be wrong though...

The biggest difference is that you can use the Official FIFA RTWC Update which does not only update squads to their current ones but also updates game play and keeper play!

Try getting it for PC. This is my advice!

FIFA RTWC 98 is better than FIFA 99 because of the more realistic game play. It does never turn in to ping pong. And the tackling is much more realistic in FIFA RTWC 98.
There are also lots more teams in RTWC and ofcourse the Qualifying mode which is really fun!
