Well its not an official announcement, but I recieved an e-mail from a Microsoft representative telling of the features of World Football 2002 for the X-Box (you are the first member of the public to see this).

-203 National Teams with official kits
-World Cup Qualification and World Cup mode
-22 World Stadia that are acurately modelled
-Over 50 different motion captured players that play like their counterparts
-Photo quality players and graphics
-Realistic gameplay (emulaing that of the ISS series)
-10 different TV broadcast logos depending on where you are playing
-Actual team and player names, with the full FIFAPro license
-Actual referee's, who referee according to their real life counterparts
-Authentic crowd sounds, actually recorded from real matches
-Widescreen option (for widescreen TV)
-Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound™

The game sounds very promising. No word on the names of the manufacturers or an impending release date. If you are wondering where I got this information I recieved it off Shane Brien who is a rep for Microsoft heading the X-Box department at the Sydney Microsoft offices, I was an official tester for the X-Box.

More news coming soon.

Everytime I hear of good news like that something always turns out nasty, such as the photo quality players, I will believe it when I see it. But I hope it is as good as it sounds.

Yeah unfortunately It will only be on the X-Box, however I will be getting mine very shortly.

I recieved some more news from Shane Brien the Microsoft/X-Box rep and he said its due for release some time around March 2002, as it will be one of the release games here in Australia.

I also asked him about the gameplay, he said he had the opportunity to have a go of what has been done (the gameplay is done, only graphics etc need to be completed) and I don't know if its a sales pitch, but he doesn't know this info is going to you guys, but he said this:

The gameplay, well I had a go, and I must say Its the best I have ever seen, its basically ISS with a few tweaks. But this game is one that will make you buy the Box.

Sounds all too good to be true to me. But I will be having ago of it soon, some time around late December-Early January, ah the beauties of being an Official tester for the X-Box in Australia.

I found out some detials regarding that, and apparently the development team have spent the last 6 months researching players and teams to get them just right.

Yeah, i would be a scandal if Microsoft only released the game for the X-Box, but i would think that once the X-Box release is out of the way there could be a Pc version some time down the track, and what a challenge to EA if the game turns out to be a Pc type Iss football game .. they will shyte themselves .. Ned :D
