Nilis was fine, Larsson kinda tripped on the turf and BaNG:D

A horrendous injury indeed.

A few years ago a Rangers player called Ian Durrant recieved the most disgusting and delibrate bad tackle I've ever seen during a game vs Aberdeen.A Serious and career threatening injury that left the player out for over a year, he never fufilled his glaring potential:eek:

I think it was 1996, and Man Utd were playing Coventry at OT. Coventry player David Bust had the ball at his feet, when Keane and Irwin slided in on his standing leg from both sides. They laeft his leg in a right angle and it ended his career. Schmiechel who was nearby needed counciling.

Once i was playing in under 15s and this dirty dirty player from the other team challenged our keeper as the keeper collected it the guys boot was lifted and the keeper copped it in the face and split his eye socket open and it looked like his eye was gonna come out ! Fully sick ! It freaked everyone out and he got taken away in an ambulance

I haven't seen the Henrik Larsson incident, but I saw Eric Cantona launching himself boots first into the crowd during a Man Utd game, I think it was

Agey

Was that when Cantona jumped into the crowd and started beating the crap out of a spectator?

I haven't seen the Larsson accident, so for me Nilis' accident is the worst I've ever seen, it also ended his career, and according to the doctors it's a miracle he's still able to walk.

The front page of the newspaper showed a big picture of his leg during the collision with that goalie.
His lower leg (from knee too foot) was shaped like an S, for a long time the doctors wanted to amputate his leg.

Another disgusting thing I saw in soccer is Maradona.

Well, the first sick injury I ever saw was David Busst for Coventry, I was actually sitting up in bed with a nasty stomach bug, and I decided to watch the news. I didn't even know what had happened to him, and they showed it and..well, you can gues what happened next. Urgh....

Later that month there was a feature in 90 Minutes magazine, on the nastiest injuries ever. There were photos of Busst (I nearly chucked again) and another guy, he was either South American or Italian, he was going to volley the ball in mid-air when some other guy got in front of him, and the guy's leg literally wrapped around the other dude, yuck!

Also, I saw in Euro 92, some Danish player, can't remember his name, he went for the ball but he went into another guy and it pushed his kneecap out of place, you could see it sticking up on end and the poor guy was screaming his head off. There were microphones at the side of the pitch but you could still hear him screaming from the centre circle.

I am amazed you didn't choose Nilis' break. Larssons one, was a clean one, broke it and it healed again. Nilis' leg broke in 3-4 places. At one point doctors even feared that it might have to amputated because of infections and other problems. That injury actually ended Nilis' career, which could have been so nice for Villa.

Also Ruud's breakdown at PSV's training center was really bad. The lad had just been to Manchester to pass a medical. Didn't pass it so he went back to Eindhoven, little bit angry and frustrated. Next day he was so fired up he started to do excercises that he shouldn't have done. At one point he jumped to head a ball back to his physio. He landed, and then....... knack, whack, snap, so good bye to your right knee. And then next, that astonishing scream, I've never heard something like it before. The scream was a combination of pain and anger, frustration, becasue he knew that it was definately over this time. Next thing the transfer to united collapsed, and he was off to Vail to undergo surgery and to work on his knee.

His world most have collapsed at that moment. Imagine you're on the verge of completing a dream move to the biggest club in the world, a move to a selection of the best players in the world, you're about to be a star of the EC in your own country. And then, everything isn't happening. That must be gruelling.

I even respected ManUtd and Sir Alex more after I heard that they were talking to Ruud every six weeks to see how he's doing. I found it amzing that, in Sir Alex's busy scheme, he went to Holland, to visit him, his girlfriend and his parents and to assure them that everything would be fine.
