View Full Version : What is the best goal in EURO2000 so far? Broodrooster 16-06-2000, 12:10:AM My opinion is the 1-2 from Figo, against England... What do you think? Woody_007 16-06-2000, 12:48:AM I agree ...... Figo's was brilliant. But then everything he does is brilliant. He is the best Right Midfielder in the world and probably the best player period. The header from Pinto was a beautiful goal too. [This message has been edited by Woody_007 (edited 06-15-2000).] Kevin_SG 16-06-2000, 01:52:AM Although I'm not meaning taking anything away from Figo, he is a phenomenal player, one of the best in the world. While I agree it has been the best goal in EURO 2000 so far, if you check the replay the shot was going straight at Seaman but then it hit of the English defenders thigh and went towards the corner of the net. The goal was still beautiful but I just though I had to point that out... shez 16-06-2000, 02:36:AM Figo v England Fiore v Belgium Mpenze v Sweden Scholl v Romania Zahovic's header against Yugoslavi ( first goal ) hope we'll add to our list ;p cheers PolishPower 16-06-2000, 05:01:AM Admittedly I did not see all the goals or all the games but of the ones I've seen the second goal from Portugal, the diving header by Pinto, was the most awesome. I'm partial to diving headers over long blasts like Figo's I guess... Neutral 16-06-2000, 05:08:AM I agree with Polish, Figo's goal was sweet (but with a little bit of a deflection), but Pinto's goal was just amazing - brave, spectacular, and just inside the post - I wish I could head like that! Kahn 16-06-2000, 09:58:AM The best goals.. Figo's 1-2 goal against England was very good, Scholl's 1-1 goal against Romania and Fiore's 2-0 goal against Belgium. Daniel 16-06-2000, 10:21:AM 1) Figo vs England Simply awesome long-range goal, Seaman was could only watch, but Adams was in the way, nicely played between the legs. 2) Joao Pinto vs England We probably won't see a better headed goal int his tournament, especially now that Bierhoff and Stam are both injured, and Koller can only hit the post or crossbar with his head. Outstanding, Seamn full-stretch, un-able to reach it. 3) Scholl vs Romania Un-typical German. Usually they will power themselves into the box and score, this time Scholl decided just to have a crack at it, when his teamates would have prefered to stupidly pass the ball around until they would lose the ball. Ugliest goals Mpenza vs Sweden I think we all could score goals easily if we could use our arms a bit more. We'll literally home-advantage, the ref didn't want to dissallow it and then receive a massive whistling concert from the ref. Or maybe De Bilde would have come on the field and KO'd the red, typical De Bilde. F. De Boer vs Czech Again, home-advantage helps, was R. De Boer trying to bicycle-kick that ball?, well he completely missed, landed on his back without being touched, but the ref, gave him a penalty for the effort. Moldova vs Germany Why the hell didn't Kahn cut that one out?, Moldovan thanked him and then almost put it over the bar from 4 metres out. Other notable incidents R. De Boer, he didn't have to jump so high and land on his back. I know you win a penalty that way, which he did, but he could also have damged his neck or back and received a card for the theatrics. Inzaghi, floored by Lennow Lewis I should say, then having the nerve to convert it too. Can't even score from 2 metres out, Why the hell did Zoff take misfite Juve duo Inzaghi-De Piero with him? Molina, what an idiot, now he's cost Spain's chances, they won't make the quaters anymore, they stuffed up like usual. Norway's 10-men defence was terific, but everyone hates them now. Flo and Carew sucked 100%, and did Raul play?, I didn't see that short freak anywhere against Norway England, Spain, Yugoslavia, Denmark, Sweden, Turkey, are all a bunch of LOSERS France, Portugal, Italy, THEYV'E rocked, except Inzaghi is total sh*t Kewell the Jewell 17-06-2000, 04:04:PM Daniel are you trying to get ppl to hate you or something??!?!?!!? i have never read a decent post from you EVER! jabj 18-06-2000, 01:39:PM Daniel - don't you mean ROMANIA v Germany??? You talk thru your arse! Schumacher 18-06-2000, 01:54:PM England, Spain, Yugoslavia, Denmark, Sweden, Turkey. Well Daniel you've managed to annoy fans from all of those countries. England were unlucky, but beat the Germans, Spain were cut out by a good Norweigan defence, you can't say Yugoslavia were bad - they came back from 3-0 down with ten men - and that's IMPRESSIVE. Denmark were never really fancied, and what would have happened if the shot hadn't hit the bar but gone in vs Holland? Sweden played badly, but their star player and goal scorer is only just coming back from injury. As for Turkey, they managed a good draw against a much fancied Swedish side, and should have drawn with Italy (if it wasn't for a debatable penalty decision). As for best goal - I thought Figo's goal was spectacular, but it got a deflection from Adams, to make it hard for Seaman. Scholls' goal was good, but the keeper was unsighted by his own defender. The best goal I'd say was Fiore's or Mpenzas (though there was that hint of hand ball in it...). Joao Pinto's header was amazing too. What a tournament, what a tournament...
