i think the question to be asked is whether you liked fifa 2000 or not. if you liked it, then it's the same game, but if you didn't like fifa 2000 then this might be a title to consider.

Just for your information, most national teams don't even feature player names on the back of the shirts so I don't see what the big deal is. Also when most people play FIFA they either use the tv angle or the tower angle, so I don't see how a player name on the shirt is any help, the figure is too small on the screen to see it anyway!

It would be nice if you could select either player number or name to appear below the player, Im pretty sure the EA's NHL and NFL games feature that.

Hey Polish Power: at the big tournament all teams have names and numbers on the back, in qualifying not (there it goes from 1-11), so EA was a bit overexcited...but that's o.k.

I must say that I really like the game too. Of course it is based on Fifa 2000 and of course it may not be as good as ISS (as I heard), but the gameplay is more realistic than in Fifa 2000.
The pitch is still a bit small, but you can dribble much better. It is still difficult, but after some gaming I manage to make better plays. Shooting is a bit hard, at least the CPU scored some longrange goals. Gone are the times of goals after headers, so far I scored 2 and received 1 out of 100 or so corners...
The games don't end in a hockey game manner anymore, my highest result was a 2-2 and usually there are 1 or 2 goals a game, welcome back 0-0 draw.
But I agree, if you did not like Fifa2000, you won't like this one, even if it is much better. It is not better than WC98 was for its days, but Fifa98 and WC98 were outstanding.
Only thing that REALLY sucks is that (logically but whatsoever) there are no not-European teams. At least Argentina and Brazil would have been nice, just for friendlies. The player-faces are not so good either, although they don't look famished anymore.
The Editor is MUCH better then in previous years, but you still can not CREATE players and teams...Buy it!!!

From a conversation with a shop-owning friend of mine, he is not expecting deliveries of the game until next week. The illegal cracked version has been released, and I suspect that this is what you are playing. We would like no discussion of this sort of thing, if this is the case.

How many of you are actually going to buy the retail version. It's the same as the warez version. Shell out another $50 for an improve version of fifa2000 with less team. Besides, EA doesn't deserve our support. They don't ever listen to us anyway.

WOOOOOOOOW, What a superb game. I didn't play it because I don't have it yet. OOOOOOOOH I can't hardly wait.

Again a -Quake 3 Arena superfast- gameplay with superb Tekken 3 moves + never-getting-tired-players like Super Mario Brothers. Greaaaat. Just like Fifa 2000 that was so great. With the same rocking gameplay.
Just like reallife!! Talking about simulation. Ooooooooh!!

I mean I hope the gameplay is the same in Euro 2000. Supurb, amazing.rocking, cool. Q3 Arena and Unreal Tournament are nothing compared to this fantastic super-rocket-fast gameplay/style.

And players with names on their back. Like the greek gods touched the game. And you saw the graphics so beatiful. AAAAAh, OOOOh!! And you know what is the best? To buy a GeForce 2 card so you play it very fast. Euro 2000 will end within 5 minutes because of this amazing EASPORTS game.

And the pitch!! Wowee!! So small!! Just like PACMAN (or was that game better?). Awesome!!!! Now I can wait no more, oooh. What about Fifa 2001, wohohoho, faster, more teams, smaller pitch, slower reacting keeper, less tactics (only 4-4-2), now only 3 2nd division clubs, MORE GOALS!!!! Wow I can't hardly wait for Euro 2000 (the game) but Fifa 2001...... playing a lower club and beating a higher ranked club with 18-0 on pro mode or even worldclass. Great, thanx, EASPORTS is the best!!!

What if EASports end up like Microsoft. That would be a shame wouldn't it? No more small pitch, superfast gameplay, perfect passes, perfect free-kicks, a lotta goals etc. What if ISS Pro comes for the pc? Noooooo, Konami, nooooo. We don't want real-life passes, real-life gameplay, real-life action? Do we? No we want Fifa 2000, Euro 2000 and Fifa 2001. Because Fifa 2000 is were the fun all begins!!!

Ooooooooooh thanx, thanx, thanx. EASports if it is in the game it is IN the game!!!!
Fifa 2000 the best beat um up/one man shooter simulation I ever played!

Sounds like euro2000 might be worth checking out, but they'll probably only bring a demo out a few months after the game is available in retail.
But I'm not getting my hopes up, not even one inch, cause I doubt EA has changed their 'winning' recipe too much. And that makes me sick, cause it is affecting other games. The only footie game I still play is UEFA champs league (the '98 version). And it was with much joy that I bought UEFA champs league 99/2000 recently( imported it from Europe, damn expensive too ), only to discover that they've turned it into a graphically wonderful but lousy gameplay footie game. The game is getting too fast, it's waaaay to easy to score goals, and the tactical side of things have been cut down dramatically. Sounds familiar doesn't it ??
And there is one huge reason why I doubt Fifa footie games will ever interest me again. The reason ? There is no skill in scoring goals. Yeah sure, doing some hurdle or 360 or whatever might be skill, but then you tap the d button and it's a goal, WOAH, realistic is not the word for it. Where's the skill in their shooting ? You must be able to tap d at the right moment ? And that is also one of the huge reasons why the scorelines are so big. In both Uefa champs league games, shooting is a skill ( if you set the auto shoot off ). You can score great goals, even from long range, but a lot of the times you'll shoot well wide, or shoot on target but it'll be a tame shot. And the best part is when you are right in front of goal and you blast it wide or over, just like in real life.
Anyway, if you've bothered reading this far, thanks. And please don't tell EA, who knows, they might just listen and come up with their first football sim game.

Amen to that, Canoe. The skill needed for shooting in one thing which makes ISS Evo. so damn good, and Fifa so damn pants.

the hardest game to shoot in is viva soccer. anybody have it? it was very hard to learn but now i like it a lot. there is a powerbar when you shoot but it works a little differently. it's more of a placement bar. when it's full the bar goes high and far post. when it's low it goes low and near post. sounds simple but there is a very thin line between scoring and shooting horribly wide. it gives you a lot of satisfaction when you make a nice shot. you can nut meg the keeper, chip it over him, blast it under his dive, all sorts of ways.
passing is a little the same. full powerbar is a through ball ahead of the recipient, low powerbar plays it behind him. difficult to master but it gives you a lot of control when you get used to it.

Zambrotta:
Those more realistic scores you got, how many minute halfs were you playing?

Also can you tell me about other features like does the computer make automatic substitutions if players are tired? For that matter does fatigue happen in this game?

Also how is the rating scale, is it still 7 point system and the same number of categories? Oh and very important, can you control more than one team in the tournament?

Btw, I don't support pirating either, I think it is just wrong, unethical thing to do.

O.k., You still have only 7 skills levels this time starting at 0 and maxing out at 6.
Only 1 team per tournament, but up the 8 teams in that dumbass "Challange" Mode.
The categories: Fitness, Speed, Shooting, Passing, Heading, Ball Control and Tackling...you get the idea.
As far as I know the CPU does not substitute (I play 2x4 minute matches). Fatigue has effects, slows down players I guess.

It would be nice if the SLOW mode were not only a SLOW-MO mode, in which EVERYTHING is slower, the ball should be as "fast" as in normal.

Again: As I heard ISS games must be fantastic, and this game is not. It is way better than Fifa2000, I like it because I am a great soccer fan and don't have much choice. It also is not 2 years "better" than WC98. Still too many tacklings, but with good players you can finally jump the defenders and set up some nice plays.

This game should have been released as a patch, since the engine is surely the same. All the artwork is much much better thankfully.
