Montevideo was such a dissapointment: but can't Australia make it to the world cup? afterall, Australia is world champs in half a dozen of sports: rugby union and league, netball, hockey, cricket. Why not soccer?

Alright they are champs in many sports...but football is really different...the teams involved are quite many when compared to other sports...they need to have more players who play outside aus.

We'd whip every countrys butt in football (AFL :D)...

They need to expand AFL to every country... Then it would be another trophy in Australia's case :)

They will have to win the important qualifying games. As they have not managed in their recent opportunities.

No other country is as versatile as Australia in the number of sports they take part in and conquer,,,,

Swimming (Ian Thorpe)

Tennis (Pat Rafter , Mark Philloppusis.....back till Rod Laver's days)

Cricket (Steve Waugh and company.....yes i have knowledge about cricket)

Rugby....(the only major sport i'm ignorant of)

.....and many other sports .......

Soccer is soon on the cards.....may take a while....

cheers.....
