Problem: for several players with a slightly longer name, you may either have the proper statistics and looks or you may have his name mentioned by the commentators. Not both. Example: Claudio Lopez (Argentina, Valencia)...quite a star. EA decided to call him "Piojo Lopez", made him look like someone else, placed him in the defensive midfield when he is a fast striker who tends to break away often, described him as a left winger, and dumped a defender's stats on him. These researchers are amazing.
Anyway, change anything about him and his name gets truncated to "Piojo Lope" because of the 10-character limit and you lose all commentary on him in the game. And this is just one of many such players. Any solutions?

Ok are you serious, Piojo Lopez? I think someone at EA lost their mind.
There is a theory going around that a renegade programmer who worked for EA on rosters,(probably an intern) got pissed off about not making any money and decided to leave EA with a last second present by screwing up many rosters and players. What do you think could this be true?

Well I just found out Piojo is Claudio Lopez's real nickname, it means "louse"

Yeah, true. It is his real nickname...means something like a "bug". But look at his features and more importantly the stats...speed 5? probably should be 7...he's one of the fastest in Europe. Strength 6? Tackle 5? whoa...that's more like a midfielder or a defender.
And well, as I mentioned earlier, when you try and change the stats to reflect the guy more accurately you lose all commentary on him because his name gets truncated and doesn't match his name in his player file. Same problem with any player with a name longer than 10 characters. Any idea how to edit these stats without getting his name truncated? I'd like to make these changes in my copy of FIFA2000 as there are many other players in a similar situation.
