I must say, LA really surprised me today. They played extremely well and much better than DC. Victorine, a rookie, played very well with a goal and 2 assists. I also thought Cienfuegos and Mathis played very well too.

By the way, I really thought Marco Etcheverry had a lot more class then he showed today. I was very disapointed. Just seemed like Galaxy wanted the win more.

Very strong performance by the Los Angeles Galaxy. I always liked the idea of having Cobi Jones playing forward. The guy is a scorer and not a play maker in my opinion. I like the way he keeps the pressure on the defense. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
Sasha Victorine, at 6'2, can make a big difference in the Galaxy's quest for the Cup(Did you see how he ruffed Talley up!).

If what I read is true, the Galaxy is still promised a star Mexican forward to replace the departure of Hermosillo, but to do so they must trade for San Jose's allocation givem when Eddie Lewis left for England.

Palencias and Luis Hernandez are names mentioned. I hope they do get a star Mexican forward. The MLS is ready to spend the money needed to bring a real Mexican star. It looks like the MLS is finally realizing what they need to do in order to make the MLS successful!!

Yes amazing that they finally realized that to make money you have to spend money first, it took only 4 years!
Personally I think if they get Luis Hernandez or Blanco that will boost attendance way way up and make people around the world really notice this league. Palencia would also be very good, but does not have as much name recognition.

OUCH....

I'm a big D.C. United fan and I saw the game on ABC. It was as bad as the score looks... D.C. could not get anything going and LA was all over them. LA hit the post at least two times and I cant even recall a decent DC scoring chance. I think the rest of the league has caught up to DC United... even before this game I could not imagine them dominating like they did in the past. I think the players lost due to the salary cap in the past years has really hurt them badly.

Damn...LA looks really tough, especially if they get someone like Luis Hernandez, Blanco or Palencia...they will be very tough to stop.

Oh, Yeah, Creeper:

I know what you mean about Etcheverry. I'm from Bolivia and have seen him play many times for the national team. He has a tendency to get frustrated and do stupid things. I remember in the first game of the 1994 World Cup against Germany, somebody tackled him hard and he retaliated by kicking at him...he missed but the ref gave him a red card. He was given a 2 game suspension and could not play in either of the next two first round games. That was it for Bolivia as they were easily eliminated.
