David Beckham has been given a final contract offer by Manchester United, according to newspaper reports.
The England captain has been told that the five-year deal on the table - rumoured to be worth between £90,000 and £100,000 a week - is not up for further negotiation.
Beckham has been a United supporter since he was a boy
With Beckham's current contract up in the summer of 2003, United are aware that they could lose a player worth £40 million for nothing if a decision is not taken soon.
The offer, which would make Beckham the highest-paid employee in United's history, includes a settlement on image rights.
The club have always said they are confident Beckham will re-sign.
The 26-year-old has been a United supporter since childhood - and despite being on the substitutes' bench for the majority of recent games, has shown few signs of being unsettled.
His agent, Tony Stephens, is reported to have been given the final offer before Christmas.

Give it up you've done that picture before. :p Beckham won't leave, he is part of what makes Man Utd. I believe his best football will come from that club. If they are in trouble they can just look to the right wing for a match winner.

If David Beckham plays well in the world cup and scores a free kick in the final Minute aginst France in the Final, then I think inter will be tempted to Break transfer record, but I don't think Victoria will allow him to go Italy.
