Andrei Shevchenko and Patrick Vieira are being touted as the next big signings for Real Madrid.

AC Milan's Ukranian goalscoring ace Shevchenko and Arsenal's midfield star Vieira were confirmed by Real president Florentino Perez as two targets on sporting director Jorge Valdano's target list for next season.

"Valdano has very good taste and Vieira and Shevchenko are certainly on his list," Perez was quoted in the sports daily Marca.

Perez, the flamboyant president who had a hand in the world record signings of Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane, added that the club would only be adding one major signing to its star-studded squad.

"It is possible that we will sign a major star next season, but in the most optimistic of cases we will only be signing one such player," he said.

Perez also poured cold water on talk that a bid is being prepared for Lazio skipper Alessandro Nesta, who recently underwent an knee operation.

"Nesta is a different case, because we have our own Nesta in the club already and that is (Francisco) Pavon," Perez responded in reference to the young centre back who has come into the first grade line-up through the club's youth ranks this season.

Perez dismissed rumbles that signing too many big players could lead to resentment within the squad.

"We want to sign players who will fit in with the culture at Real Madrid and, because of that, we not only consider the sporting side, but also other aspects... and everyone has seen that with Zidane."

Why Shevchenko? They've already got Morrientes, Raul, Figo and Guti. Maybe they realised Milan's supremacy in Italy and want to take their star player?!?:)!?!

Don't worry.......no one is going anywhere,,,,

Milan will not let Sheva go , and viera has no place to play in the real squad

Can't stop the rush...
