Mendieta could be retruning to Spain to join Athletic Bilbao.

Negociations are at an adavnce stage, although I haven't been able to find any quoted price for him, but Lazio paid Valencia £28 million and the price is likely to be around a similar figure.

Mendieta is eligable to play for Bilbao as he has Basque origins (Bilbao have never signed a non Basque player, but they have signed French Basque players such as Lizarazu, who played for them before joining Munich.)

Seems like Lazio have problems with holding on to big name players, Mendieta belongs in Spain anyway......

Well Bilbao could be in Europe next season and win the Spanish Cup.

It seems that he'll play on loan for Bilbao until the end of the season.

His move to Bilbao is like a step up. I feel that his move from Valencia was a bad carreer move.

generally when a person is nearing the end of his career ,especiall having played for a club like Barca , he goes to a midtable Premier league or SerieA team.......but in my opinion , Hesp had a lot more in him to be in better team......
